- 1965: stay with friends most popular

- The other two years: hotel

- Camping: minor changes
- Caravans: sharp increase from 1985 to 2005.

The three pie charts indicate four different sheltering options made by
holidaymakers in three separate years 1965, 1985, and 2005.

In general/On the whole/By and large, staying with friends or relatives used to be
the most popular accommodation choice but was later replaced by hotels in the next
40 years.

In 1965, staying with acquaintances made up a significant proportion since more

than half of the holidaymakers would opt for this choice. Meanwhile, each of the
rest accommodations would account for a rather minuscule share, ranging from 14%
to 16%.

After 40 years; however, there was a shift in dominance as the percentage of hotels
underwent a dramatic increase and became the most prevalent sheltering choice
among holidaymakers, covering approximately one-third of the entire data. From
1985 onwards, it is visible that both camping and staying with friends/relatives
witnessed a considerable drop to 12% and 30% respectively, while caravans
experienced a sharp leap of 10% throughout this period.
