SUMMER SWYNNERTON 2023 WARNING ORDER AND BIDDING


INSTRUCTION

1. Introduction. This is a warning order to notify all units that Summer Swynnerton will run
this year between the dates of 18 AUG 23 – 25 AUG 23. Arrival will be from 1800 hrs on the 18th
with departure being 0900 hrs on the 25th.
2. Streams. The format of this year’s camp will run on ‘streams’. These are set training
programs containing various courses from the progressive training syllabus and other core
activities.
3. Bidding. Squadrons are invited to bid via the MS Forms link (HERE) and not any SMS
apps, for the stream they would like to take part in. The form will ask for 1st 2nd and 3rd preference
choice in the questions. Details on the streams content can be found below. Cadets cannot swap
between streams to do different activities.
4. DS. We are looking for Cadet Directing Staff to take an active role in the delivery of this
camp and encourage anyone with the interest and skills in the below subjects to get involved.
Anyone wishing to be nominated for a Cadet DS place must hold the relevant instruction
qualification in that subject and be of suitable experience and maturity. Cadets wishing to be DS
can bid in writing via email to the Camp Training Officer on andrew.lennon100@rafac.mod.gov.uk
including the term ‘DS’ in the subject along with the name of the activity.
5. Closing date. The closing date for initial bids for the Camp and Cadet DS is the 23 JUN
23. Successful bids will be notified by email to their unit commander no later than the 30 JUN 23
and will be sent the JI and Gov Pay link to confirm a space. Once payment is received the cadets
will be added to SMS. Any candidates who do not gain a place will be put on to a reserve list and
notified if they have been given a place by email via OC Sqn as places become available.

6. Staff. Staff are actively encouraged to participate in the camp. We need staff to support
each activity and the camp overall, from activity commanders to vehicle drivers and cadet support
– or even if you want to come along to be involved in the experience.

7. Cost. The costs of attending this year’s camp will be £80 for Cadets and £30 for Cadet DS.
CFAV messing is £40 for those claiming pay, any CFAV not claiming pay/crown feeders there is
no charge. Those accepted on to the camp will be required to pay in full via the Gov Pay Link to
the Wing bank account, details will be circulated as part of the joining instructions. Refunds will not
be available for those who drop out after they have had a place confirmed and if a reserve cannot
be found.
