Social networking refers to the use of online platforms or websites to connect and communicate
with other individuals, group ,share information, and engage in various activities such as
networking, social interactions, and content sharing.
b. Explain how you can use social networking in your studies. (4 marks)
I can use social networking in my studies by associating myself with groups or communities
related to my field of study or academic interests. These platforms can facilitate collaboration
with peers, sharing resources, discussing topics, getting help with assignments, and staying
updated with the latest developments and updates in my field of study.
c. Explain four (4) advantages of social networking. (8 marks)
1. Connectivity: Social networking enables people to communicate and connect with others
from around the world, fostering global connections and relationships.
2.Information Sharing: Social networking eases the sharing of information, ideas, and
resources between users, hence facilitating the rapid exchange of knowledge and ideas.
3. Better communication: The users can share text, voice, and video in better real time and
easily .This helps makes understanding of concepts easier and faster.
4.Networking Opportunities: Social networking platforms provide opportunities for
professional networking, career advancement, and finding mentors or collaborators.
d. Explain four (4) disadvantages of social networking.(6 marks)
1. Privacy breach/Concerns :Users may unknowingly share a member of a social network’s
sensitive information or Members may be vulnerable to privacy breaches, identity theft, or
cyberbullying.
2. Time-consuming: Excessive and prolonged use of social networking can lead to
procrastination and distraction from important roles/tasks or responsibilities.
3.False News: Misinformation and fake news can spread rapidly through social networking
platforms, leading to confusion and misinformation among members.
4. Mental Health Issues: Overuse of social networking can contribute to feelings of
loneliness, anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem, especially when users compare themselves
to others or experience cyberbullying, or when their sensitive Information is exposed.
2. A HP-Pavilion laptop for sale has the specifications below. Explain the meaning of these
specifications to a friend who intends to buy this laptop.
•Intel Core i9
Denotes the processor, akin to the brain of the laptop. An Intel Core i9 is quite a powerhouse in
terms of performance, fitting tasks that are demanding, such as gaming, video editing, and
multitasking making it a good laptop to buy.
•16GB;
The random access memory (RAM) installed is actually what determines the number of tasks
your laptop is able to take without lagging. In fact, 16GB is a pretty good amount for smooth
multitasking and running heavy applications.

•512 GB SSD;
Storage device in which files, programs, and operating systems are to be stored. It provides
storage of 512GB, which is proper with the files and faster booting and load times compared to
traditional hard drives due to fast read and write speeds.

•2TB External Drive ;

It’s probably just another storage tool, most likely a hard drive that will have a capacity of
around 2TB (terabytes). The drive will help provide more room for one’s files, backups, or even
media libraries of huge sizes.

•Windows 11 Home Basic;

This is the operating system that was there when the laptop was bought. Windows 11 Home
Basic is the edition of Windows 11 for home users with basic features and functionalities.
•Office 365;
A subscription suite of productivity applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, many
others by Microsoft, that allow one to create, edit, and share documents, spreadsheets, and
presentations.

•15.5LED;
This stands for the size and kind of the screen. It is a 15.5-inch LED (Light Emitting Diode)
display, which normally means that colors on it are bright and vivid, apart from being energy-
efficient compared to older technologies used for displays such as LCD.
•802.11acWIFI;
This is the kind of wireless network connectivity that the laptop supports. 802.11ac refers to a
Wi-Fi standard developed to enable more bandwidth running at a frequency of 5 GHz.
•1,252grams;
: It refers to how much the laptop weighs; this also directly relates to portability. In this case, it’s
not heavy, so it’s portable.

•12.13” x 8.79 x .57”;

Would be the length, width, and thickness, respectively, of the laptop. This signifies the physical
size and form factor the laptop will appear in a range of contexts.
