Interns Training
Currently in Tigray, since the armed conflict broke out 20 months back, the customary health
patterns are totally changed with most people remaining without access to health care. One
reason could be closure of hospitals and several clinics due to the absenteeism of professionals.
The functioning healthy facilities are staggering with limited health workers who themselves are
the victims of the war and all-encompassing siege.
The department of Pediatrics and Child Health believes the graduating doctors will be a great
addition to the collapsing health system. Knowing the disproportionate impact of war to the child
our department is planning to provide training on selected topics to the new graduate medical
doctors, before their deployment into different corners of the region.
The selection of the topics was made with in-depth discussion of senior pediatricians with
consideration of the current condition in Tigray.
