Abstract – max one page – should summarise the aims, what was carried out, key
findings and conclusions

Introduction
Why was the study undertaken and perhaps some notes on the role of chemical analysis and
why the specific determinands analysed?

Study area
Where were the sites located? Mention you sampled both stream and ponds sites and a brief
note on the location of sites with reference to a map (Figure No. ) and description of the key
features of the sites with reference to a table. E.g. Small streams with width generally less than
2m Could include photos (refer to them as Figure No. )

Methods
When and how samples were collected in the field.
Briefly describe methods with reference to a Table 3 and Standard methods
e.g. pH, conductivity, oxygen (both as mg/L and % saturation) were measured in the field using
…….. Water collected for BOD in?? incubated how was BOD calculated
Alkalinity determined by titration using what acid. How was it calculated – insert formula

Filtering, standards……
Could put some examples of standard curves in an appendix

Anions (chloride, sulphate)

Results
Results of the chemical analysis are presented in Table 4. ……………………………….
Describe each result in turn with reference to Table 4 and whether there are exceedances of
thresholds etc.

waters on the UCD Campus on DATE??
Import and format the table from the excel file

Discussion
Bring all the results together to conclude on water quality on campus and note any recommendation
you may have.
