What is the student learning goal for this lesson idea?

Students learning goal for this lesson idea is for students to be to use the podcast link to prepare
for the learning in the classroom the following day. Students will be introduced to the topic and
we'll be prepared for what they need to learn within the classroom.

How do you plan to implement this lesson and integrate the technology? Check all that apply:

☒ Teacher-led: There is no student voice and choice in the activities. Students are guided by the
teacher's direction and expectations. Learning activities are assigned to the student and mostly
practice based.

☐ Student-Led: Students are given voice and choice in the activities. They may select the topic of
learning and/or determine the tool they will use to meet the learning goal. The teacher facilitates
the learning as the students direct their own learning processes.

☐ Problem-based and/or Publishable: Students are solving problems and completing projects to
demonstrate their learning. Additionally, the projects can be shared outside of the classroom.
(Note: This objective could be reached by displaying the project on the school’s morning newscast,

posting the project to the classroom blog, presenting it to another class, or publishing it via an
outside source.)
Lesson idea implementation:

For this Lesson students will be using the audio podcast link that I as the teacher will send to them.
Students will use the podcast link to listen as I speak on the topic that we will be learning about the
following day at school. Students will listen to the podcast as I talk about a book that we will be
reading in the classroom the following day. Students will have to make predictions on what the book
will be about based on the title and cover page art. I will ask the students to write down a few
predictions on what the book they will be reading tomorrow in class may be about.
Managing student learning:

For the podcast that the students will be listening to at home it will allow for a quick active learning lesson.
The students will be listening to 30-60 second podcasts. Once the students are done listening to the podcast,
they will only have to jot down a few bullet points on what their predictions are about the book that we will
be reading the following day within the classroom. Since this active learning lesson is short and at home it'll
allow students to work at a pace that works well for them as well as not need to spend a lot of time
completing the work.
Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Reflection: Be sure to mention one specific UDL principle you
are focused on in this lesson – Multiple Means of Engagement, Multiple Means of Representation,
or Multiple Means of Action & Expression.

Although this lesson that I am planning does require students to listen to a podcast, there will be
translation of the podcast that allows students who may not be able to listen to read the podcasts
translation. In addition, the podcast will also be translated into Spanish 2 allow support for all
students while using this technology tool.
Reflection:
After designing this lesson plan, I feel that this is a fun and creative activity that will impact student
learning. This lesson activity allows students to use technology to make predictions about class the
following day as well as enjoy the podcast as they make a connection to the teacher's voice. But it
will also get their minds excited on reading the book and seeing if their predictions about the book
and lesson that we will be completing in the classroom all right!
