PART I

1. INTRODUCTION
The Goa Medical College complex is situated at Bambolim, Goa. The Goa Medical College
was established by upgrading the old “Escola Medica-Cirurgica de Goa”. Medical
education was existent in Goa for more than 100 years and scores of doctors, some of them
who achieved international recognition, passed through the old school. The college
therefore, has more than 100 year’s tradition in medical education. Bachelor degree courses
in various Allied Health Sciences were running in Goa Medical College since academic
year 2013-14 and till date 5 batches have successfully completed their undergraduate
degree courses. The Allied Health Science Courses are affiliated to Goa University and is
under the administrative control of the Government of Goa. Understanding the need and
scope of the specialised post-graduate courses, Goa Medical College is starting the Post-
Graduate degree courses in various Allied Health Sciences from the academic year 2020-
2021.

2. AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE INSTITUTE


a. To impart necessary knowledge and practical training techniques in Post-Graduate
degree courses in Allied Health Sciences and to maintain high standards of Allied
Health Sciences education

b. To render competency in knowledge and skills related to advance Allied Health


Sciences especially related to speciality Clinical fields to enhance professional Practice,
Education and Research, in line with global standards.

c. To attain self-sufficiency in Post-Graduate Allied Health Sciences education to meet


states need of Allied Health Sciences personnel with speciality area.

5. SCHEME OF EXAMINATION
Part I & II examinations shall be conducted at the end of the First and Second year of the
course respectively.

6. FEE STRUCTURE
The following fees are to be paid on admission to the postgraduate courses in Allied Health

*It is informed that mess fees for the student residing in hostels will be charged separately
in the hostel fees with caption mess fees after consultation with the warden of both UG and
PG hostels from the academic year 2023-24.

 There will be annual revision @ 5% in above mentioned fees.


 Any applicant who cancels her/his allotted seat, is not entitled for refund of Admission
fees.
 Fees are to be paid by Demand Draft drawn in favour of, Dean, Goa Medical College,
Bambolim, Goa or through online payment mode.

7. BOND
The candidate admitted to the postgraduate degree courses in Allied Health Sciences will
be required to execute an indemnity Bond that they will serve this Government of Goa for
a period of ONE year, on completion of postgraduate degree course. The Government may
post them in any health facility within the State of Goa. If course is left midway or forfeiture
from bond service, will attract a penalty of 50 lacs as per the Government of Goa
guidelines.

8. HOSTEL ACCOMMODATION
Hostel facilities are available at the campus and admission to the hostel will be governed
by the hostel rules and will be subject to availability of accommodation.

9. ANTI-RAGGING
a. RAGGING IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED, AS PER THE GOA PROHIBITION OF
RAGGING ACT, 2008: GOA ACT 9 0F 2009 AND GOA ACT 17 OF 2010. ANY
STUDENT/STUDENTS WHO IS /ARE FOUND GUILTY OF RAGGING AND /OR
ABETTING RAGGING IS/ARE LIABLE FOR PUNISHMENT.
b. On admission, every student shall register affidavits online affirming to the effect that
he/she has not been expelled and/or debarred by any institution for any act of ragging
and further that he/she will not indulge actively or passively, in the act or abet the act
of ragging and if found guilty of ragging and/or abetting ragging will be liable for
punishment. A copy of anti-ragging affidavit shall be submitted within 30 days of
admission.
c. Punishment for ragging
i. Whoever directly or indirectly, commits, participates in, abets or
propagates, ragging, within or outside this institute shall, on conviction, be
dealt with by the Director of the institute and resorted to disciplinary action.
ii. If the individuals committing or abetting ragging are not identified,
collective punishment will be reported as a deterrent punishment and to
ensure collective pressure on the potential raggers.
iii. Any student so convicted shall further be removed from the roll of the
institution and such students shall not be admitted in any other educational
institution in the state of Goa for a period of three years from the date of
such conviction.
iv. The punishment may also take the shape of:
1. Debarring from representation in events;
2. Withholding results; and
3. Suspension or expulsion from institute

d. The migration certificate shall include an entry of whether the student had indulged in
ragging and in particular was punished for ragging, apart from the student’s general
conduct and behaviour.

10. MISCELLANEOUS
10.1. Students shall follow rules in respect of use of the Institute’s library and laboratory
facilities. They shall also follow the rules and regulations where they gain their practical
experience.
10.2. Students are required to be immunized against hepatitis-B before the
commencement of their practical experience.
10.3. Attendance: Students require to have a minimum of 80% attendance in theory and
80% in practical), to be eligible to appear for the examination
10.4. Facilities for periodical medical examination, outdoor/indoor medical treatment
will be provided in the hospital attached in the college.
10.5. The students who failed to observe discipline in the college will be dealt with
according to the rules and regulations laid down by the college
10.6. Stipend: Stipend will be paid as per appropriate rate fixed by Government of Goa
and revised from time to time. Stipend for AHS courses is subject to Government
approval.

PART- II

1. ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION


For admission to the postgraduate degree courses in Allied Health Sciences included in this
prospectus, an applicant must fulfil the following criteria:
1.1. Nationality: Admission to Post-Graduate Allied Health Science Courses at Goa Medical
College is open to Indian Nationals fulfilling other eligibility criteria. Non-Resident
Indians (NRI), Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) and Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs)
holding Indian passport may also apply.
1.2. Age: The candidate must have completed the age of 18 years on or before 31st December
2023. No maximum age limit, is specified for admission.
1.3. Qualifying examination and Minimum marks:
1.3.1. For MPT and MOT courses, candidates should have passed the Under-Graduate
degree in respective courses from Goa University or any other UGC recognised
University and for M.Sc. Echocardiography, candidates should have passed either
B.Sc. degree in Medical Imaging Technology (MIT) in Radiodiagnosis or B.Sc.
degree in Cardiac Care technology from Goa University or any other UGC recognised
University.
1.3.2. For General category, candidates should have passed the Under-Graduate degree in
respective courses with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate of all academic years’
University examinations and for SC/ST/OBC category, candidates should have
passed the Under-Graduate degree in respective courses with minimum of 40% marks
and for 45% for applicants belonging to PwD category in aggregate of all academic
years’ University examinations
1.3.3. Have completed stipulated Compulsory Rotatory Internship on or before the last
date for receipt of application (if applicable).
1.4. Residential Requirements: Have resided in the State of Goa for a minimum period of ten
years preceding the last date for receipt of applications. Provided that the requirement of
minimum period of residence as aforesaid shall not be applicable to the students who are
admitted to the Goa Medical College from 1st academic year till completion of compulsory
rotatory internship.

2. APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION
2.1. The application form enclosed in the Prospectus (Annexure-IV) can be obtained online on
the Website of Goa Medical College (www.gmcgoa.edu.in). Cheques are not accepted nor
will the prospectus sent by post. The last date for release of Prospectus will be 28/03/2024
before 5:00 pm.
2.2. Applicant has to pay Rs. 1000/- (Rupees One Thousand only) through a Demand Draft
drawn or through online mode as per details mentioned in Fee structure section (PART I-
6) as prospectus fees and does not confer right to admission.
2.3. The application form duly filled along with the Demand Draft, and the testimonials/
certificates should be submitted personally or send by Registered A.D/Speed Post to the
Dean, Goa Medical College, Bambolim, North Goa, Goa – 403202.The institute shall not
be held responsible for Postal delay. The application form along with scanned
testimonials/certificates can be submitted to academic section (acad-gmc.goa@gov.in).
2.4. The application for admission should reach the Institute on or before 28/03/2024 by 5pm
in soft copy/hard copy to academic section (acad-gmc.goa@gov.in).
2.5. Candidates must ensure that they are eligible to apply for the course in accordance with
the qualification and other terms and condition for the purpose. All eligibility criteria are
to be met prior to the last date of application.

3. TESTIMONIALS AND CERTIFICATES REQUIRED


All candidates shall enclose with the application form the following self-attested copies:
1. Certificate of birth from the competent authority.

2. Certificate of passing and statement of marks obtained at S.S.C., H.S.S.C. Examinations

3. Provision/Degree Certificate, statement of marks, Attempt Certificate, Passing Certificate,


and Internship Completion Certificate obtained for relevant Bachelor degree in respective
Allied Health Science courses issued by UGC recognized university.

4. Certificate of residence from the Mamlatdar, indicating period of continuous residence


(minimum last 10 years) of the applicant in Goa, preceding the month of the application.
(Annexure-I)

5. In case, the continuous residence is less than 10 years but more than 5 years and the
applicant wants to claim, concession on the grounds of parents/grandparents being born in

Goa, the birth certificate of either of the parents/grandparents from the Registrar of Birth
and Deaths, and documents to establish their link with the applicant.

6. In case the applicant wants to claim concession in period of residence under any
circumstances, relevant documents to that effect shall also be attached along with the
application.

7. Leaving/Transfer certificate from college last attended, duly signed by the Dean/Principal
of the Institution (as applicable).

8. Migration certificate issued by the recognized university (If Bachelor degree conducted
other than Goa University).

9. Provisional Eligibility Certificate from recognized University.

10. A certificate that the candidate has been immunized against Hepatitis-B must be attached.

11. Certificates received after the due date in admission notice and time will NOT be
considered under any circumstances.

4. FOR CLAIMING SPECIFIC CATEGORIES

As per Government directive, PG admissions in AHSC under various reservation categories


are subject to Government approval.

6. SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS
6.1. Applications which are incomplete or submitted after the due date and time as notified
will not be considered.
6.2. All certificates enclosed with the application form should be self-attested.
6.3. Copies of certificates attached with the application form will not be returned even if the
candidate is not selected.
6.4. No original certificates should be attached to the application.
6.5. The candidate will have to produce certificates in original for verification at the time of
admission.
6.6. PHOTOGRAPHS

a. Affix their recent passport size photograph on the application form after which the
same is to be self-attested
b. Submit an additional copy of the photograph with their names written in pencil on
the reverse of the photograph
6.7. If for any genuine reason, a candidate is unable to submit the required certificates the
candidate shall be provisionally admitted. She/he must provide an undertaking indicating
that all the certificates shall be submitted within a period of 3 (three) days from the date
of admission. Failure to do so will result in cancellation of admission. However
candidates cannot be admitted without the Eligibility Certificate from the recognized
University.

7. RESERVATION UNDER VARIOUS CATEGORIES


As per Government directive, PG admissions in AHSC under various reservation categories
are subject to Government approval.
8. GUIDELINES FOR SELECTION/ADMISSION
8.1. FOR MPT and MOT COURSES
8.1.1. The order of merit shall be determined through GMC “Entrance Test (ET)” for
MPT and MOT courses separately. Syllabus for ET of each course is attached
(Annexure-VI)
8.1.2. If two or more candidates secure the same marks in the merit list as drawn above,
the marks obtained in the subject* shall decide the merit.
8.1.3. In case the subject marks are also the same,
For MPT and MOT courses, the total marks secured by the candidates in the final
academic year of respective under-graduate Allied Health Science course, or total
marks of third academic year of respective under-graduate Allied Health Science
course, or total marks of second academic year of respective under-graduate Allied
Health Science course, or total marks of first academic year of respective under-
graduate Allied Health Science course.

8.2. FOR M.Sc. ECHO COURSE


8.2.1. The order of merit shall be determined through GMC “Entrance Test (ET)”.

8.2.2. If two or more candidates secure the same marks in the merit list as drawn above,
the total marks secured by the candidates in the final/third academic year of respective
under-graduate Allied Health Science course, or total marks of second academic year

of respective under-graduate Allied Health Science course, or total marks of first
academic year of respective under-graduate Allied Health Science course.
8.3. For the admission to the postgraduate degree courses in Allied Health Sciences, the
candidates belonging to the General Category will be required to obtain minimum 50%
and the candidate belonging to the reserved categories (the scheduled castes, Scheduled
Tribes and Other Backward Classes) will be required to obtain minimum 40%, aggregate
marks and 45% for PwD category. (The percentage of aggregate marks shall be arrived at
by totalling the marks obtained in all the subjects of all academic years of respective under-
graduate Allied Health Science Courses.)
8.4. All the applicants selected for admission shall be required to be first examined by the
Medical Board of Goa Medical College, Bambolim, Goa and only those found medically
fit, shall be admitted to these courses.
8.5. Admitted candidates are required to sign a bond with the Government/Institution for
specified amount. Details regarding the bond, may be ascertained from the Institute. The
selected candidates for the admission shall be required to execute bond as under (as per
specimen to be obtained from the college):-that they will serve Government (of Goa) for
a period of 1 (ONE) year, on completion of respective AHSC PG course.
8.6. Preference- while selecting the candidates for admission to the postgraduate degrees in
Allied Health Sciences, preference in the following order shall be observed:-
8.6.1. Candidates who have graduated from the Goa Medical College and have also
satisfactorily completed full stipulated internship at Goa Medical College. If such
candidates are not available then-
8.6.2. Candidates who have graduated from the Goa Medical College but have done the
internship outside the Goa Medical College, in other UGC recognised
Colleges/Universities. If such candidates are not available then-
8.6.3. Candidates who have graduated from other UGC recognised Colleges/Universities
other than the Goa Medical College but who have completed the internship in the Goa
Medical College. If such candidates are not available then-
8.6.4. Candidates who have graduated from and who have done their stipulated internship
in other UGC recognised Colleges/Universities, other than the Goa Medical College.
8.6.5. Candidates from other states, who have graduated and have completed their
completed full stipulated internship in other UGC recognised Colleges/Universities,

other than the Goa Medical College but within Indian Union, and fulfils academic
eligibility conditions prescribed in this prospectus, shall be eligible for admission
under this Outside Goa Applicant (OGA) for any seats that remain vacant after
admitting all candidates in category No. 8.7.1 to 8.7.4 above.
8.6.6. If any seats remained vacant after above mentioned Category of preference,
Category No.8.7.1 to 8.7.5, then only seats will be allotted to candidates of Non-
Resident Indians (NRI), Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) and Persons of Indian
Origin (PIOs) holding Indian passport.

9. NOTIFICATION OF ELIGIBILITY, SELECTED AND WAITLISTED CANDIDATES


9.1. The eligible list, Provisional & Final Merit lists of candidates will be displayed on notice
board and the institute’s website.
9.2. Candidates are expected to bring to the notice of the Director Academics (in writing) any
discrepancy on the eligibility list within 24 hours of display, failing which the candidate
himself/herself shall be responsible for the consequence of such an error. The candidate
should also ensure that the revised position if any is informed to him/her.
9.3. The names of the candidates who are provisionally selected and are in the waiting list will
be displayed separately on the notice board and the website of the Goa Medical College,
Bambolim, Goa. The list of waitlisted candidates will be displayed as per availability of
seats.
9.4. The provisionally selected candidates should report to the Goa Medical College,
Bambolim, Goa on the date and time as notified on the selection list, along with the fees
and their original certificates for verification. Fees are to be paid by Demand Draft drawn
or through online mode as per details mentioned in Fee structure section (PART I-6).

10. CANCELLATION OF ADMISSION


10.1. Candidates not reporting:
10.1.1. If any candidate who is offered admission does not report or pay the prescribed fees
within the date specified in the notice of admission, the offer will be treated as
cancelled and seat will be offered to the next eligible waitlisted candidate.
10.1.2. Even if a candidate pays the tuition fees, but fails to join the College upto mop-up
round or from the date of payment of fees, whichever is later, Dean can, at his

discretion, cancel the admission of such candidate. The tuition fees paid by such
candidate shall not be refunded.
10.2. Cancellation of Admission by Admitting Authority:
10.2.1. If any information/certificate submitted by the candidate in connection with her/his
admission is found to be incorrect at any time in the future, her/his admission shall be
cancelled forthwith Bond penalty charges will be applicable..
10.2.2. Admission fee of (Rs.1000/-) (Rupees One Thousand only) shall not be refunded under
any circumstances on cancellation of admission.
10.2.3. If a candidate desires to cancel his/her admission for any reason whatsoever upto mop-
up round, her/his admission fees and 10% of tuition fees shall be deducted. Remaining
other fees will be refunded.
10.2.4. If a candidate cancels the admission after mop-up round, bond will be applicable to
the candidate.

11.REFUND OF FEES
11.1.1. Fees shall be refunded on submission of an application from the Candidate
requesting for cancellation of admission and only on production of the original fee
receipt. Mode of refund payment will be through ECS credited to the candidate’s
bank account.

All changes which come into effect after the prospectus is printed, shall be displayed on the
notice board of Academic Section-Goa Medical College, Bambolim, Goa.
