Please note: this pattern is designed for crocheters who mastered basic
crochet skills and terminology. It doesn’t include crocheting lessons.
The difficulty level is intermediate.

If you use materials and tools I recommend, the height of the vase will be
approximately 18 cm / 7". The vase part is 7 cm / 2.8" deep and 8 cm / 3.2" in
diameter.
Please remember: the size of the toy depends on your crochet tension and the
materials you use.

My patterns can only be purchased from me directly.

Maximum weight that the vase can hold is 450 g / 15.9 oz.

A few ideas on what can be placed inside the vase. You can use it as a catch-it-all for:
crochet tools: hooks, stitch markers, row counter;
small office supplies: pens, pencils, erasers, markers, paper clips;
make up and make up brushes;
hair accessories: scrunchies, hair ties, clips and pins;
jewelry;
other things like memory sticks, keys, discount cards etc.

You can use it as a vase and put inside dried flowers, artificial flowers or a small
potted plant, even fresh flowers. To use if for fresh flowers, use floral foam, protect
the vase from water by wrapping the floral foam in plastic wrap.

1. Yarn: YarnArt Jeans (55% cotton, 45% acrylic;
175 yd / 1.76 oz; 160 m / 50 g; yarn weight #2 Fine/Sport):
№ 65 (lilac) – vase base, flowers
№ 50 (purple) – clothes, flowers
№ 73 (light peach) – arms, neck, head
№ 71 (mocha) – hair, vase, wreath base

2. 2.00 mm crochet hook.


3. Brown sewing thread and a sharp needle to embroider face details.
4. Toy stuffing and a stuffing tool.
5. A piece of thin plastic or cardboard approximately 10x15 cm / 4"x6" to reinforce
the bottom of the toy and the vase.
6. Dull needle for sewing parts together.
7. Scissors, pins for securing part in place before sewing.
8. A piece of 1.5 mm / 16 ga wire, 60 cm / 23.5" long.
9. Medical tape to wrap around the wire.
10. Stitch markers.

SHIFT STITCH
Shift stitch is an extra stitch(es) you work at the end of a round to make your work
look symmetrical. The stitch can be either added or undone.
The added stitch(es) isn’t counted as part of the round.
Remember to move the marker after the shift stitch.
Next round begins after the shift stitch.

Vase base
Base of the vase is made of two parts: upper and lower, with a plastic or cardboard
piece placed between them for balance.

Lower part of the base

Chain 21, start in the 2nd ch from the hook:

Upper part of the base

Cut a piece of thin plastic or cardboard that matches the size of the base.
You can use an old file folder, a plastic lid, a cardboard box or any packaging
that would work for this purpose.

Assembly of the base

Place both parts on top of each other with wrong side facing in. Put the
plastic piece between them.
Connect both parts by crocheting a round of sl sts through the loops of
both parts. Remember to join the lower part from the stitch marker you
placed earlier; for the upper part, continue to crochet
from where you left off.
At the end of the round, cut the yarn, fasten off and hide the end.

Body
Make sure to keep the stitch marker centred on the back.
Crochet with purple color in continuous rounds.
Attach the yarn to the front loops, starting at the spot that matches
what will be the centre of the back later. See photo for guidance.

It is important to keep the stitch marker centred on the back for the whole

Form a wire frame. It will reinforce the neck and help to keep the head straight.

I used a 60 cm / 23.5" long piece of a 1.5 mm / 16 ga wire.


Fold the wire in half, wrap the ends with the medical tape.
Shape half of the wire frame into an oval with the other half sticking upwards from the
side of the oval. (see photo) Place the frame into the body. Oval part of the frame should
be placed on the base. Firmly stuff the body.
From here, continue to stuff as you go.
Pay special attention to stuffing and shaping the shoulders.

Stitch marker should stay centred on the back of the neck. Add a few shift
stitches, if necessary.
In the next rounds the stitch marker of the beginning of the round should

Firmly stuff the neck.


Fold the other half of the frame into the chin part of the head,
make look similar to the shape of the chin (see photo).

Keep the stitch marker of the beginning of the round centred on the back of
the head.
In the next round, crochet the nose. Make sure that the increases are made in
the middle of the face.

First part.

Crochet with mocha color in continuous rounds.

Cut out a plastic circle that matches the crocheted part.

Cut the yarn, do not fasten off. Secure the loop to continue to crochet from

Leave a long end, about 150 cm / 59" long. It will be needed later to connect
two parts together. Put it aside for now.

Secure the loop (use a stitch marker if needed), continue to crochet from here
later on.
Turn the part inside out.

Attach the first part to the second part.

Place the parts on top of each other, put the plastic circle between them.
Connect two parts with yarn from the first part.
Crochet 72 sl st through the loops of the first part and the back loops of round
9 of the second part.

Attach inner part to the head.

Slightly stuff the chin, this will help it to keep the shape. Next, insert the
inner part inside the head. The last stitch of the inner part should match the
last stitch of the head.

Make 80 sc with mocha color. Crochet through the loops of both parts: inner
part and the head. Crochet in the opposite direction to the inner part stitches.
At the end of the round, do not cut the yarn.

Attach the hair.

Determine a central stitch on the forehead and count 40 sts to the back of the
head. Place a stitch marker. This will help to attach the hair to the head
symmetrically.

Add as many sc as needed from the last stitch of the head to the stitch marker
you just placed. Put the hair on the head and attach it to the head:
crochet 80 sl st through the loops of round 82 of the hair and the loops of the
head together.

Cut the yarn, fasten off, hide the end.

Face Design
Embroider the face with brown thread.

1. Embroider the mouth, 4 rnds down from the nose. The mouth is 7 sts wide.

2. Embroider the eyes symmetrically to the nose, leaving 7 stitches between
the eyes. Make them 7 sts wide.

3. Embroider eyebrows, 7 sts wide and 7 sts apart.


4. Using light peach color make 6-7 sts to embroider the ears. Count 7 sts
from the eyes. Make the ears 4 rounds high.

Attach the arms to the body and the face.
I attached each arm in 4 spots: elbow, wrist and two spots on the hand (white
arrows on the photos below are pointing at those spots).

Chain 81, start in 2nd ch from the hook:
1. 1 inc, 78 sc, 4 sc in the last ch of the foundation
chain, continue along the other side of the
foundation chain: 78 sc, 1 inc (164)
Cut the yarn, fasten off, hide the end.

Make two strings on each end of the wreath base.

Chain 30, attach to the wreath base and crochet 10 sl st through the middle of the
base, crochet between the stitches (see photo). Cut the yarn, fasten off, hide the
end. Tie a knot at the beginning of the ch 30.
Repeat same steps to add a string on the other end.

Flowers (make 11-12)

Crochet with lilac color in continuous rounds.


1. 9 sc in MR (9)
2. (crochet in one loop: 1 sl st, ch 2, 1 dc, ch 2, 1 sl st) х 9.

Split mocha yarn into strands and use these strands to sew the flowers to the
wreath base.
Embroider the middle of each flower. Make French knots with purple color.

Put the wreath on the head. Fill the vase. You can see some ideas from me
and pattern testers on page 3-4 of this pattern.
