Objective: Use plural forms of singular nouns by adding /s/ or /es/ . (EN3G-Ig-h-2.3)

Using plural form of nouns by adding /s/ or /es/

 A singular noun refers to only one person, place, animal, thing, or idea.

 To make regular nouns plural, add –s at the end of the following: b, c, d, e, f, g, h, i, k, l, m, n, p, r, s, t,


u, v, w, x, y
Examples:
g = mug -mugs o = fork -forks
t = rat -rats e = kite -kites

 If a noun ends in any of the following letters (–s,-ss,-sh,-ch,-x, or -z) add –es at the end to make it plural.
Examples:
x = prefix -prefixes s = gas –gases
sh = bush –bushes ss = dress -dresses
z = quiz –quizzes ch = beach –beaches

 If a noun ends in vowel –o, you can either add –s or –es.


 Add –s to the following words referring to musical instruments/gadgets and
Other words ending in o
Examples:
radio –radios stereo –stereos solo –solos
piano–pianos video–videos photo–photos

 Add –es to other words ending in o.


Examples:
hero –heroes tomato –tomatoes potato -potatoes
domino –dominoes volcano –volcanoes echo –echoes
buffalo -buffaloes mosquito-mosquitoes
