What is Techniche?

Techniche is the annual techno-management festival

of IIT Guwahati and it is the largest of its kind in
North East India. In its 24th edition with a footfall of
~50,000 people and 50 Lakh+ hits on its website,
it has impacted over 10 lakh people with its plethora
of initiatives, competitions and its very own marathon.

What is Guwahati Half

Marathon?

The Guwahati Half Marathon is one of the oldest and

largest events of North East India organised by

students of IIT Guwahati, and is the largest student

organised marathon in India. It witnesses 5000+

participations and has been associated with multiple

corporates, PSU's and ministries.

2022

GHM 2022 was themed to support Youth of Assam

in Protecting Children from Violence and Abuse,
an impact of COVID-19. The initiative helped the
Government of Assam towards reaching every child,
with a special focus on marginalised and hard-to-
reach communities. Being a part of it brought about a
great impact on the children of Assam.

Marathon 2023
This year, Techniche aims to organise a more
mammoth marathon than the last one, while at the
same time keeping in touch with its roots and
supporting a social cause. Providing a platform for
participants to come together and make a difference
in the combat against world hunger, we have come
up with the theme for GHM 2023 - "Run for Zero
Hunger". This endeavour aims to generate
awareness and shed light on the down-and-out. The
only motto is to provide a healthy lifestyle for one and
all. Supporting us with this cause will be our Brand
Ambassadors and Chief Guests.

This, year Techniche is planning to conduct GHM on

9th April 2023, just a week before Rangali Bihu.

Assam State has a rich history and connection with

food and the famous Assamese festival of Bihu is also

a harvest festival to thank God for good food. This

Bihu, we aim to provide healthy and nutritious food to

all through our initiative of GHM. For every runner

this year , we plan to feed one person. Hence,

running in GHM can be a way of giving back to the

society and making someone's Bihu memorable.

Before GHM

A major difficulty in eradication of hunger is also

food wastage. To work upon it we would start from

our campus and organise awareness drives in all the

hostel canteens and mess, educating students about

how much food is being wasted everyday and how

many people that food could have fed.

To boost motivation and enthusiasm even more

among campus students this year, Techniche is

planning to conduct a midnight cyclothon. The track

would cover the serene beauty of the IIT Guwahati

campus, along with wonderful winter chills at night.

Event Structure

Glory Run: 21 km professional race that witnesses

a participation of more than 1000 people,

including runners from countries like Bhutan,

Bangladesh and Nigeria.

Spirit Run: 6 km race for general public.

Witnesses a participation of more than 4000

people.

Prizes: Medals, Certificates and a total prize

money of ₹1,50,000.
After GHM
For every runner in the 21 km category we are
planning to provide customised food packages to the
ones in need. This food package would consist of a
personalised note with the name of the runner. This
way the runners can directly contribute towards our
cause. Also for every 6km runner, our team would
visit orphanages, villages etc and provide a free meal
to people who can't afford it.

We are also planning to collaborate with NGOs and

associations such as Akshay Patra and Robin Hood to
provide refreshments for our runners.
