Week-5th-12th April, 2020.

Soft skills to be better understood are skills that are required to handle real life situation at
workplace, which is what the syllabus principally prescribes.

More importantly, these skills are not the ones for which you can get trained into by studying
books and scoring good marks and by learning certain questions. These are skills that are
extremely essential to have and further improve as you gain more and more experience at the
workplace. Basically employees have to hone their skills as they move up, it is their key to
success.

SOFT SKILLS – 6 Major Ingredients

1. Communication Skill-already known to all.


2. Emotional Intelligence—you have been introduced to this in your previous week
assignment and you very well know it means managing one’s own emotions as well as
understand others’ emotions while handling situations. Bottomline fact is to remember
as human beings we are all very different people. We all have some weak and some
strong qualities in us.
3. Empathy thenceforth becomes an essential quality; it is as important as any other skill.
Through empathy employees can hope to work in teams, build relations and create
opportunities for themselves.
4. Leadership skills-do we all have leadership qualities? Think of some cricketers whom
you can label as a good leader as well as a very good batsman/bowler. Think of
someone who was a very good cricketer, a very good human being but not a good
leader. Find out the qualities of a leader. Mention some students in your class you
would describe as a good leader.
5. Flexibility/Adaptability- Is it fundamentally easy to adapt yourself to make changes in
your profile simply because you don’t wish to lose your job? Or making changes in
profile is something you wish to do as it is high time such flexibility will pave way for
your success?
Adapting oneself to changing environment becomes a great challenge in today’s world.
For instance, Professors in colleges are being expected to send e-content to students
during Coronavirus pandemic; those who succeed in doing so have greater adaptability
potential.
6. Teamwork: Teamwork is another great skill that is required for an employee to achieve
success as well as climb ladder od success with passage of time.

Answer these two questions in 300-400 words each: ASSIGNMENT II

1. What are important values that one needs to demonstrate as a leader? Give two
examples. You can refer to point 4 on Leadership skills for example.
2. To succeed in life it is important to convert our emotions and thoughts into
opportunities for learning and growth. Illustrate with examples.
