REFLECTION PAPER ON TEACHER AS A MANAGER

To be a good manager you have to be a good teacher. A profession in teaching offers

excitement, difficulties, and personal fulfillment. Being an effective teacher requires more than
just having strong topic knowledge; it also requires having excellent people skills.
As a newly hired teacher, I have already faced a lot of challenges with both my students
and my coworkers. I gained a lot of knowledge from that experience, and I've since come to the
conclusion that you have to be more open-minded to understand the significance of teaching in
this organization. As a teacher you need to be a:
Multitasker. Multitasking is an important part of teaching, in addition to adhering to the
curriculum and marking exam papers. An effective teacher should be able to keep an eye on
their students' behavior and maintain their focus throughout the lesson, almost like having
extra eyes. Especially if you are assigned in a slow learner. As for my experience most of my
students do not know how to read well. I noticed that while I’m having my lesson some of my
students are not listening because they can’t relate. So, I made a strategy and sub-task my
lesson for them. And as a result, they can follow our lesson step by step as a consequence.
Ability to teach is a given, but having the right credentials to instruct others is not the
only requirement for becoming a teacher. To simplify difficult concepts using memorable
examples or props, it requires a variety of talents, such as instructional ability, your own
teaching style, and the ability to explain and illustrate convincingly.
Negotiation is one of the most crucial teaching abilities since it reduces conflict in the
classroom and helps set expectations. Being able to bargain will not only help you keep positive
relationships with parents and coworkers, but it will also create a motivating environment for
pupils. For example, if you have a parent who is very protective to his/her child, expect it that
even if it is just a small problem that parent will go to school and ask if what happened to
his/her child. So, you need to prepare yourself and stay calm.
Adaptability is one of the most important soft skills for teachers because you need to
adjust to changing circumstances. You never know what will happen in your classroom on a
daily basis, so you'll need to be prepared to handle every situation and find prompt solutions.
For example, you will need to maintain your composure and intervene if one of your students
hurts themselves or becomes seriously ill. As with my experience one of my student’s back got
scratched and a lot of blood came out so at first when I saw it, I felt very nervous but then said
to myself that I need to be calm for my student.

Good teacher is prepared, the proficient educator arrives in class each day ready to
instruct. Organizing time and preparing materials in advance of instruction have been noted as
the most important aspects of effective teaching. However, the word "preparation" can be
ambiguous; two different teachers may have entirely different ideas about what, precisely,
makes a truly "prepared" teacher. In teaching, instructional materials is not the only thing you
need to prepare but you need also to prepare yourself for your students to start a positive and
good environment.
Emotional Intelligence, If you’ve seen Matilda, you may recall Miss Trunchbull’s
unpredictable actions, which caused the younger pupils to run for their lives. That serves no use
for you or the students. No matter how furious or outraged you become, you must be able to
regulate your feelings and keep a positive body language or else, you too will become a total
mess. Especially, if you are dealing in a lower grade because most of the students are hard
headed so you need to control your emotion.
Reassure your students verbally, as an elementary school teacher, you should genuinely
tell a pupil that you support and believe in him, that you will not give up on him, that you
understand his challenges, and that you believe in him if you want him to believe in himself.
Appreciate your learners every time they got an achievement for them to motivate every day.
Too many educators fail to say and demonstrate to their students that they genuinely believe in
them.
