Project Title: A Proposed Drug Rehabilitation that
synchronize Cognitive and Behavior Recovery
through Biophilic Architecture
Location: Binangonan
1.1 The Project:
Drug-related issues in the Philippines have been a
problem in society for many years. The country
strives to overcome the situation to lessen illegal
activities and for people's safety. According to DOH
in July 2023, the Philippines faces challenges to
accommodate less than 10,000 drug-users due lack
of rehabilitation centers. According to Dangerous
Drug Boards in 2022, Shabu (Methenamine
Hydrochloride) has 92 percent which is the highest
percent of Drug-abuse. Followed by Marijuana
(Cannabis) that has .65 percent, and lastly
Robitussin (Codeine Phosphate)
According to Dangerous Drug Boards in 2022, there
are seventy (70) treatment and rehabilitation
facilities reporting to the Treatment and
Rehabilitation Admission Information System
(TRAIS). Of this, sixty-two (62) are residential and
eight (8) are outpatient.
The National Capital Region has twenty-five
percent (24.53%) of reported cases, Followed by
Region III. That is sixteen percent (16.25%). with a
total of forty-three percent (42.73%) increase in
admission was noted despite some facilities having
reported no admissions. Compared with last year's
cases.
The Proposed Drug Rehabilitation Centre will be
located at Binangonan, Rizal. That offers health
therapy to drug addiction therapy, with a primary
objective of improving treatment results that
address multiple nature of drug addiction and
opening the door for more humane and successful
methods of rehabilitation.
1.2 Problem Statement:
According to Philstar in July 2010, One of the main
reasons why people use illicit drugs is due to
curiosity. Followed by Exposure to drug-use within
families and peer pressure.
has the second highest number of arresting people
that related to drug-issue at nearly 18,000.
The continuous stigma attached to being classified
as a criminal, especially a drug offender, plus the
general perception of unwelcoming settings make
many people afraid to look for treatment at facilities
that address addiction issues. This hesitation is due
to a concern of not receiving the treatment and
support required for recovery—that is, the worry of
being judged, discrimination, or subject to harsh
penalties. People in need are discouraged from
receiving necessary treatment and rehabilitation
services due to the unfavorable perspective held by
these institutions. These are some questions that
the studies will only focuses for the solution:
● Establishing a Drug Rehabilitation Center
really helps and supports drug-users to
overcome addiction and re-enter society?
● Incorporating cognitive and behavioral
approaches will encourage people to go to
rehabilitation and reduce drug-related
issues?
● What are the spaces that should be
available for better recovery?
1.3 Project Objectives:
● To provide treatment for drug-users that
will overcome their addiction and re-enter
society.
● To design space for various functions such
as training, education, meditation,
workshop, recreational, and etc.
● To design spaces for drug-users that’s free
from judgment and discrimination.
● To reduce the numbers of drug-related
issues
