Implementing Guidelines on NSTP Policies on
Attendance, Uniform, and Grading System

A. Attendance
1. Checking of students’ attendance is done twice: First, within 15 minutes of the first hour of the class and second,
within 15 minutes before the class ends either within or outside the University.
Students who will come late for the first call will be marked late until the 30th minute of the first hour. A student is
allowed two (2) late arrivals whether consecutive or not. On the 3 rd late arrival, the student will be marked absent
for one whole session and every time thereafter (or every time she/he comes late).
2. Students will be marked absent for the day’s session for late arrivals beyond 30 minutes, leaving them with NO
merit for attendance, but they will earn scores for their class standing should they decide to nonetheless join the
activities.
3. The allowable number of unexcused absences is three (3) session days whether consecutive or not. A student
who incurs more than the said allowance shall be marked “FA” regardless of his/her class standing.
4. A student who intends to be absent is required to present an EXCUSE LETTER to his/her NSTP facilitator in
advance (before the scheduled absence). For unforeseen absences, an excuse letter must be presented
immediately the following session.
5. Accepted excuse letters are as follows:
 Medical certificate from family doctor or HAU doctors;
 Excuse letters written by parents, relatives, and/or guardian with attached photocopy of valid
identification card for signature verification;
 Letter from the teacher-in-charge duly noted by the College Dean citing reasons for being excused
(Activities that coincide with NSTP classes must be formally endorsed to OCES/NSTP (can be
emailed to hbasilio@hau.edu.ph and/or smmarcos@hau.edu.ph ) before the actual activity date;
otherwise, the excuse letter will not be honored), or
 For athletes – letter from coaches duly noted by OSSA and the College Dean citing specific date of
competition / training.
NOTE: When considered excused, an equivalent activity should be accomplished in consultation with the
NSTP facilitator to compensate for the lost points and contact hours during the absence.
B. Uniform
1. Every session, students are required to wear NSTP or WHITE shirt.
2. Failure to comply with the required shirt means NO merit for attendance, but the students will earn scores
for their class standing should they decide to nonetheless join the activities.

C. Grading System
30% - Attendance, Physical Involvement, and Visibility
40% - Class Standing: Report/Examination, Attitude and Class Participation (observance of rules, regulations, or
policies and positive attitude towards the program, participation in class discussion, exercises, project implementation,
group work, and NSTP supplemental activities such as seminars, forums, workshops, and related activities).
30% - Project in lieu of Final Examination (group and individual accomplishment reports, journal entries, worksheets,
activity reports, and related final requirements).

The above guidelines are intended to facilitate the development/enhancement of students’ self-control/discipline as
part of their formation into Competent Christian Professionals.
