water conservation, DGS third-graders sought the assistance of their sixth-grade pals to analyze the
best method for watering the school’s one-acre farm and 20,000 square feet of garden plots. Later,

is in a class called education for sustainability (EFS). On these trips, we honed our wilderness and

challenge, skill drill, and KARS (math word problems). After seeing the need for support at a local
school, I decided to apply to DPS. We concluded we wanted to do something different, something
