UNIT 3: MUSIC

Lesson 1: Getting started – A talented artist (Time: 01 period)

I. THE AIMS OF THE LESSON.


1. Knowledge:
By the end of the lesson, students are expected to achieve the following
objectives:
* Vocabulary:
- Understand the meaning of the key words or word collocations related to “A
talented artist” such as: talented, musical instrument, trumpet, perform,…
*Pronunciation:
- Pronounce the following words, word clusters correctly: talented, musical
instrument, trumpet, perform,…
* Grammar:
- Understand and use the grammar structures presented in the lesson: compound
sentences, to inf. and bare inf.
2. Ability:
a. General ability:
- Form and/or improve such competencies as teamwork, interpersonal skill, problem-
solving skill, self-study skill, adaptability, etc.
b. Specific ability:
- Students are expected to pronounce, know the meaning of the key words and
understand the main grammatical points, then do the tasks that follow.
3. Quality:
- Develop a positive attitude towards music;
- Students are aware of the important role of music in our life.
- Students have serious learning attitudes, energetically and actively participate in
learning activities.

II. TEACHING EQUIPMENT AND LEARNING MATERIALS:


- Teacher prepares cards, posters, teaching aids such as: personal computer,
speaker; online applications (plicker.com, blooket.com)
- Students prepare studying tools such as: pen, pencil, markers, plicker cards…

III. PROCEDURES:
1. Activity 1: Warm up (7’)
a. Objective:
- To create a friendly and lively atmosphere in the classroom
- To lead into the new unit
b. Content:
- Students work in 4 groups to play a game called “Kim’s game”.

- Students understand the meanings of the words about “A talented artist”.
- Students have the excitement before joining in the new lesson.

- Students work individually or in pairs

- Students understand the meanings of the words/ phrases in the conversation
- Students have an overall about the topic of unit (Music)
