GUIDELINESS:

1. INTRODUCTION: The debate begins with an introduction by the moderator or the teacher, explaining the
topic, format, and rules.

2. OPENING STATEMENTS: Each team presents their opening statements, outlining their stance and key
arguments. The team will be given a maximum of 5 minutes per side, that will be presented by 2-3 members.

3. REBUTTAL AND CROSS EXAMINATION: Teams take turns responding to the opposing side’s argument.
They will present counter arguments, challenge evidence, and try to weaken the opponent’s position. It is also
a cross examination phase where teams can ask questions directly related to the arguments presented, given
30-60 seconds each member per team.

4. REBUTTAL EXTENSION: If necessary, teams may have the opportunity for a brief extension of their
rebuttal to address new points or clarify arguments made by the opposing side with 30-60 seconds per
member time limit.

5. CLOSING STATEMENTS: Both teams conclude with their closing statements, summarizing their main
points and reinforcing their position. The team will be given a maximum of five minutes per side, that will also
be presented by 2-3 members
