DAILY LESSON PLAN IN MATHEMATICS 6

April 12, 2022, 7:15 – 7:35 AM

CLASS OBSERVATION 2

I. Objective: A. Derive the formula in finding the volume of a rectangular

prism
B. Find the volume of a rectangular prism
C. Show respect to others
A. Content Standards Demonstrates understanding of volume of solid figures and meter
reading.
B. Performance Standards The learner can be able to apply knowledge of volume of solid
figures and meter reading in mathematical problems and real-life
situations.
C. Learning Competencies Finds the volume of prisms, cylinders, pyramids, cones, and
spheres. (M6ME-IVb-97)
II. Content Volume of the Rectangular Prism
III. Learning Resources Most Essential Learning Competencies
A. References Module 1
Video Lesson (for asynchronous), posted in the Google
Classroom
Mathematics 6 Book
1. Teacher’s Guide Page MELC, DBOW
2. Learner’s Materials Pages 21st Century Mathletes 6, Module
Materials: MELC, DBOW, module, video lesson, Volume Song,
Power Point Presentation, laptop, picture
IV. Instructional Procedure Direction: Find the product of the given numbers.
A. Preliminary Activities
1. Drill

2. Review Direction: Find the area of a rectangle.

3. Motivation
Show pictures related to National and Local Election.
Play a video of “Volume Song”.

B. Developmental Activities Problem:

1. Presentation During Election Day, Rowena as the 3rd member of the
Electoral Board would like to find out the amount of space inside
the ballot box that can be filled in. If the ballot box has an
estimate length of 2 ft, width of 1 ft, and height of 3 ft, what is its
volume?

Let’s analyze:
1. Who is the character in the problem?
2. What does she want to find out? Why?
3. What is the estimate measurement of the ballot box?
What is the length, with and height?
4. What is asked in the problem?
5. How to solve the problem?

2. Performing the Activities VOLUME is the amount of space an object occupies. It is the
space inside a container. It is the number of cubic units needed to
FILL a 3-dimensional object.

RECTANGULAR PRISM is an example of a solid figure that is

3-dimensional or 3D. It has the length, width and height.
3. Processing the Activities

4. Reinforcing the Concept and Activity 1: Practice

Skill Direction:

5. Summarizing the Lesson

How do we find the volume of a rectangular prism?

The formula in finding the volume of a rectangular prism is

Area = Base x height
A=Bxh
or
Area = length x width x height
A=lxwxh

The volume is measured in cubic units or u3.

6. Applying to New and Other Direction: Analyze and solve the problem.
Situations Anika is working with the City Government of Manila in
packing the food items for distribution in support to families
during the COVID-19 pandemic. She would like to know the
space inside the food box to determine what food items can fill in
the box. If the length is 12 in, width is10 in, and height is 3 in,
what is the volume of the food box?

C. Assessment
D. Home Activity Direction:
Analyze and solve the problem.

During Holy Week, the Santos family conducts “Karidad”

for the people as their "PANATA" of giving and offering free
food to strangers or passers-by in front of their home. They
prepare dice hopia to be given to people. If the container of dice
hopia has a length of 8 in, width of 5 in, and height 3 in, what is
its volume?

V. Remarks
VI. Reflection
A. No. of learners who earned 80% in the
evaluation
B. No. of learners who requires additional
acts. for remediation who scored below 80%
C. Did the remedial lessons work? No. of ___Yes ___No
learners who caught up with the lessons ____ of Learners who caught up the lesson
D. No. of learners who continue to require ___ of Learners who continue to require remediation
