Bodhisattva: The Compassionate Aspirant

1. Vow and Purpose


Vow of Bodhicitta:
A Bodhisattva takes the Bodhisattva vow, committing to attain
Buddhahood for the benefit of all beings.
Their aspiration is to liberate others from suffering, even if it means
delaying their own enlightenment.
The Bodhisattva path is characterized by selflessness, compassion, and
unwavering dedication.
2. Stages of the Bodhisattva Path
Ten Bhumis (Stages):
Joyful (Pramudita): The Bodhisattva rejoices in their commitment.
Stainless (Vimala): Purification of defilements begins.
Luminous (Prabhakari): Radiance of wisdom dawns

1. Radiant (Archishmati): Compassion expands
boundlessly.
2. Difficult to Conquer (Sudurjaya): Overcoming
obstacles.
3. Manifest (Abhimukhi): Bodhisattva’s virtues
shine forth.
4. Gone Afar (Durangama): Mastery of
meditative absorptions.
5. Immovable (Acala): Unshakable resolve.
6. Good Intelligence (Sadhumati): Profound
wisdom.
7. Cloud of Dharma (Dharma-megha):
Attainment of Buddhahood.

guide beings toward awakening.
