1. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
We are SOOO proud of our students for earning distinguished ratings at Festival!! The band
represented well. The Wind Ensemble tackled some very challenging repertoire and grew
from the process of playing in a very exposed ensemble setting. The Symphonic Band had
everyone equally contributing which showed its benefit as they received a distinguished in
every sub-caption as well which is a very difficult thing to do—Bravo!!

2. Solo Ensemble $$ Due Thursday!

Solo and Ensemble will happen on Saturday, April 27th at Drakes Creek MS.
Here are the students currently paid as of 03/19/24:

Hernandez, Hannah Schafer, Jackson Harper, Trey Lightfoot, Leah Watson, Brandon Hill,
Marshall Wiggins, Elli Trivizadakis, Nuala Smith, Leah Chen, Brennan Miller, Emma
Addington, Kristiona Morrow, Diego Padin, and Tara Pattee.

Elli T./Leah C., Leah C. /Brennan, Kristiona/Lazaius/Jazzmin

If you are planning on performing a Solo or an Ensemble on April 27th, please pay by
Thursday! We have to pre-register everyone, so it is important we receive your fee. J

Music will be handed out in class this week to those who have come in to select their
pieces AND have paid their fees!

4. Band Room open Tuesdays/Thursdays after school for afternoon practice

time!
Bus will pick students up from the HS at 4:15PM to drop them off at their elementary schools.
Students playing in ensembles need to rehearse after school and be coached and this time
would be perfect for this!

5. Congratulations to the Western Kentucky Percussion Festival students!

Shoutout to Marshall Wiggins, Stone Dieme, and Diego Padin for being selected into either
the Honors Percussion Ensemble or Honors Drumline! The BGJHS 7th Grade Percussion
Ensembles are also performing as a guests this Saturday! Super proud!!

What to Bring
-Wear sunscreen, tennis shoes (no sandals or flip flops), and bring water to drink.
-Every band student must purchase a lyre for their marching instrument before band camp. We will
provide a flip folder, although you can purchase your own if you prefer to.
-Instrument, school borrowed marching instruments will be provided the first day of camp.
ex. horn, baritone, tuba, and percussion.

Transportation
Transportation will be provided via school bus that will pick students up at the elementary schools if
needed. The same bus will drop students off at the elementary school after band camp. Current
pick-up/drop-off locations are Dishman-McGinnis, T.C. Cherry, & Parker Bennett Curry. Be there by
7:30 am if you want to ride the bus! If you live near another city elementary school & need
transportation, contact Ms. S/Mrs. Shores immediately so we can arrange transportation.
 Daily Schedule
Band Room doors open at 7:30AM. Please arrive early to be on time for morning fundamentals!

8:00-10:00 AM Marching Fundamentals, Setting Drill

Water Breaks will be given periodically during rehearsal.

10:00-11:00 AM Indoor Music Sectionals with coaches

11:00-12:00 PM Full Band Rehearsal in Band Room

Friday, October 18th vs. South Warren (Senior Night) 7PM @ BGHS
TBD Dates: Nov. 8, Nov. 15, Nov. 22, Dec. 7 (State Championship)

Playoff Games will use Purple/Gold Bands to alternate these games so students are not required to
attend each game, although they can if they choose to.

BGHS Band Camp Excuse Form

An absence may only be excused if this form is turned in at least one week prior to the date of the
absence, except in a death or illness. Absence (excused or otherwise) will result in the student not
having a drill spot. Please complete this form even if you have already spoken to us about an
upcoming absence. Absences must meet the BGHS Band handbook requirements to be excused.
The handbook is signed by each student/family at the beginning of school.
