DETAILED SCIENCE LESSON PLAN

GRADE LEVEL QUARTER/DOMAIN WEEK AND DAY PAGE NO.

10 QUARTER 3 NO.
WEEK 6, DAY 1
I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content The learners demonstrate an understanding of how evolution through natural selection
Standards can result in biodiversity.
B. Performance
Standards
C. Learning Explain how fossil records, comparative anatomy, and genetic information provide
Competenci evidence for evolution. (S10LT - IIIf -39)

Objectives Learning objectives:
(Write the 1. Explain the different evidences of evolution.
LC code)
2. Identify various types of evidence that support the theory of evolution.
3. Give the significance of fossils.

IV. PROCEDURES
Time allotment: 3 minutes
REVIEW

The teacher will ask the students to recall what they learned from the last discussion.
A. ELICIT
Guide questions:
- Who are the two proponents of the “Theory of Evolution?”
- What are the three theories of Lamarck?
- What is the theory of Darwin?
Time allotment: 3 minutes

The teacher will show a picture of a dinosaur and will let the students answer the guide
questions through oral recitation.

B. ENGAGE

Guide questions:
1. Do you believe that dinosaurs existed on Earth millions of years ago?
2. How do you think scientists determined the appearance of dinosaurs?

C. EXPLORE Time allotment: 5 minutes

SCAVENGER HUNT

The teacher will divide the class into four groups. Each group will be given a printed
material containing different evidence of evolution. The students will identify which
pictures are evidence that could support the theory of evolution.

After the activity, the teacher will ask one representative from each group to share their
own idea from the pictures they identified.

D. EXPLAIN Proceed to proper discussion:

- The teacher will explain each type of evidence of evolution (fossil records,
comparative anatomy, embryology, and genetic information) in detail, provide
examples and discuss their significance in the study of evolution.
After the discussion the teacher will ask a question.
E. ELABORA
- What can old shells and bones tell us about how animals have changed over
TE
time?

AHA! Analogous! Homologous!

Directions: Write in the space provided H if the structures below are homologous and A
if they are analogous.

Structure Classification

Human arm Whale flipper

Human arm Alligator forelimb

Bat wing Butterfly wing

Bird wing Butterfly wing

The teacher will give an assignment:
G. EXTEND
- Research and study in advance about “biodiversity.”

VI. REFLECTION
A. No. of learners who earned 80% in the evaluation
B. No. of learners who require additional activities for remediation
C. Did the remedial lessons work? No. of learners who have caught up with the lesson
D. No. of learners who continue to require remediation
E. Which of my teaching strategies worked well? Why did these work?
F. What difficulties did I encounter which my principal or supervisor can help me solve?
G.
What innovation or localized materials did I use/discover which I wish to share with other
teachers?
