Independent Monitors- Cross River State

Job purpose

A non-governmental development organization (NGDO) implementing health programs across

LGAs in Cross River State is recruiting a pool of field monitors / survey data collectors to
monitor the implementation of its program in the state.

Monitors will be trained and deployed to selected implementing sites (schools, communities and
training centers) within and outside the state capital (Calabar) for a number of days to collect data
using both paper and electronic survey questionnaires. This job application will be used to engage
survey data collectors for a specified number of days (6-15 work days) within a 6 month period

Duties and responsibilities

● Attend a one-day training in preparation for monitoring a 2-day LGA-level training in

selected LGA.
● Field visit to selected LGA to collect monitoring data during the 2-day LGA-staff
training activity using the provided survey questionnaires.
● Attend a three-day training in preparation for monitoring a one-day teacher training and
implementation of program activities in selected schools
● Field visit to selected teacher training center to collect monitoring data during the 1-day
teacher training activity using the provided survey questionnaires.
● Field visit to selected school/community to collect monitoring data during the program
activity using the provided survey questionnaires.
● Attend a 2-day training in preparation for community and school field visits to conduct a
coverage validation survey.
● Field visit to sampled communities and schools to collect data to estimate program
coverage not more than 4-weeks after program implementation.
● Submission of all collected data to the server within 24 hours after data collection for
each activity listed above.
● Return of all data collection tools and materials provided in acceptable condition within
48 hours after scheduled activities.
● Attend a 1-day debriefing meeting to discuss challenges and lessons learned from
concluded field data collection activities, where necessary.
● Report all other observations from the field directly to the MLE Associate.
