Wines of Georgia

Optional Tasting with Sarah and Andrew – 16 November

Georgian wine is still emerging onto the world, so the availability of wines varies greatly from state to
state and country to country. If you would like to taste along, we will be talking about the wines in terms
of exemplar styles, grape varieties, and production techniques. We recommend you source the
following exemplar styles:

• A dry white such as Rkatsiteli, Tsinandali, or Mtsvane (Sarah and Andrew will have Tbilvino
Mtsvane)
• An Amber qvervi wine in varieties such as Rkatsiteli, Kisi, Mtsvane (Sarah and Andrew will have a
Teliani Kisi Qvervi)
• A Saperavi red from qvevri (Tbilvino Qvervi Saperavi)
• A Saperavi red not qvevri (Teliani Winery 97 Saperavi)
• A non-Kakhetian, western cooler climate wine (Mukhrani Shavkapito, and Khareba Imeritian

Producers to seek:

JSC Tbilvino produces Mtsvane & Qvervi Saperavi from Kakheti

JSC Teliani produces Saperavi from Ikalto and Kakheti

JSC Teliani produces Kisi Qvervi from Akhmeta and Kakheti

Chateau Mukhrani produces Goruli Mtsvane and Shavkapito from Kartli
