History of Hip-hop:
Hip- first used in the African American Vernacular
English culture which means informed or current.
Hop- came from a rapper named Robert Keith
“Cowboy” Wiggins who was in the US Army who used
to rap the words hip-hop-hip-hop while mimicking
the sequence of the marching soldiers which later
became hip-hop into stage performances.

Breaking- This is also known as break dancing.
Dancers are called b-boying and b-girling or
breakers. This has movements to be
performed in different levels such as:
- Toprock- standing while performing.
- Downrock- when dancers are close to
the floor.
- Power moves- when dancers are doing
acrobatics.
- Freezing- when you freeze while posing.

V. Evaluation
Question:
What is the difference between freestyle and hip-hop?
How can hip-hop and freestyle help in vocalizing your thoughts
and issues in a powerful way?
What are the social issues or political issues will you show in
your choreography?
VI. Assignment
You must create your own choreography with the different dance
styles with your group. This will be preparation for your Scaffold
activity to be presented this Friday.
The Presentation must be 2-3 mins only.
