Literary Terms
For the following literary terms make sure that you have written the de nition and, where pos-
sible, have an example.
Many of these terms, but not all, fall under what is called gurative language. Figurative lan-
guage is any gure of speech which depends on a non-literal meaning of some or all of the
words used. There are many types of gurative language, including literary devices such as
simile, metaphor, personi cation, and many pun examples, to name just a few.
