Preface

The AHO specialist commission “Project Control/Project Management” has completely revised, expanded and adapted the service and
fee regulations in project management to new developments. The 5th edition of AHO issue 9 has been available since March 2020.
The previous editions come from 1996, 2004, 2009 and 2014.

The current issue 9 assigns so-called “deliverable objects” to the individual basic services. These deliverables must be created by
project management so that the basic services can be provided completely and effectively. This gives clients the opportunity to check
and measure the performance of project management.

The commentary section of Issue 9 describes the services in Chapter 3 and thus represents a now proven and frequently used
understanding of construction project management services in Germany.

The basic services of project management are supplemented by the services of project management (Chapter 4) and by the special
services (Chapter 5). In Chapter 6, the booklet describes the changes to the basic services that are required in BIM projects as well as
possible services of BIM management.

Chapters 7 and 8 deal in more detail with remuneration and contract design.

Issue 9 has now become a textbook-like reference work for construction project management services in Germany. Foreign projects also use this
service profile - often not in full, but in a modified form. The constant adaptation and improvement over the past decades has ensured that the
performance profile is comprehensive and up-to-date. Of course, it can be used in a modified form within projects.

The following synopsis makes the changes between booklet 4 and booklet 5 visible and is a guide that not only clarifies the development
of the service profiles, but can in particular be an aid for preparing offers and executing the services.
