Greetings,

Thank you for registering for DEVSOC'24. This is a quick reminder to register on
both VTOP and the DEVSOC portal if you haven't done so already. Also be sure to
join our DEVSOC Discord server as we will be posting important updates there. You
can also use the server to network and find teammates. Make a discord account if
you don't have one.
Process for VTOP registration:
SW Events tab -> Event registrations tab -> Search for "Yantra: DEVSOC" -> Click
'+' icon (if on phone) -> Click register.
Process for DEVSOC portal registration:
Go to portal.devsoc.codechefvit.com -> Click Sign Up -> Enter the required details
-> Login.
Upon logging into the DEVSOC portal you will be greeted with four curated sections
each highlighting different aspects of the event. TImeline, DEVSOC team, Idea
Submission and track details respectively.
You can also change your profile information by clicking the profile icon on the
top right of your screen.
Steps for CREATING the team:
After logging in -> Click “create team” -> Enter your team name -> Click “submit” -
> copy the team code in the blue box -> share with your teammates.
Steps for JOINING a team:
Simply click the “join team” button -> enter team code -> Click “confirm”
Process for Idea Submission:
Login to portal website -> Find the "Idea Submission Box" section and click on
"Submit an Idea" -> Fill all the fields -> Click “Submit Idea”
Also note that your team is required to submit an idea on the DEVSOC portal website
before the event officially starts in order to be eligible to attend the event. The
idea submission needs to be done on the DEVSOC portal website and only one member
is required to submit the idea per team. Note that you can make edits to your
submission before the deadline.
The deadline for idea submission is 12:00PM, Sunday, 17th March 2024.
After submitting the idea you can edit the idea by clicking the “Edit Idea” button
or view the already submitted idea by clicking the “View Idea” button.

Process to join the DEVSOC discord server:

Click here: https://discord.com/invite/VY4DEAPbr3 -> Log in to discord account (if
required) -> Click complete button-> You will be automatically assigned the role of
@hacker -> You can now access all the channels on the server.

Some FAQs:
Q. Will ODs be provided?
A. Yes ODs will be provided for Monday and Tuesday however you have to be
physically present at the venue at all times. You may leave the venue before 7pm,
if you have quizzes or other such commitments.

Q. Is it mandatory to submit an idea before the hackathon?

A. Yes it is mandatory for offline participation. The process for the same has been
explained above and the deadline for idea submission is 12PM Sunday, 17th March
2024. We would be using these ideas in order to shortlist teams for participation
offline.
Q. What is the duration of the hackathon?
A.6:00PM Sunday [17th March 2024] to 5:00PM Tuesday [19th March 2024].
Approximately 48 hours long.

Q. What is the venue?

A. The hackathon will take place in Anna Auditorium.

Q. Is there a main website for DEVSOC?

A. Yes! The link is: devsoc.codechefvit.com

Q. Is it mandatory to register on both VTOP and DEVSOC portal?

A. Yes it is mandatory. Registration on VTOP is required for your OD (On Duty).
Registration on the DEVSOC portal is required for team formation and idea
submission.

Q. Do we have to stay at the venue overnight?

A. In case you are attending the hackathon in offline mode, you will have to stay
overnight on Sunday and Monday from 9:00PM to 6:00AM.
Q. Do we have to stay at the venue at all times?
A. Yes you will need to be present at the venue for all the hacking, side event,
and speaker sessions. We will be giving breaks during meal times where you can
stretch your legs and go have food.

Q. What is the prize pool?

A. We have a prize pool consisting 1.1 lakh in cash prizes and 2.25 lakh in kind
sponsorship and discount vouchers for QuillBot Annual Premium for everyone present
at the venue.
