1. INTRODUCTION
The presented document covers the analysis and design of proposed lifting arrangement for the
trestle on class 230 barge for transferring the load on to the lifting beam on SPMT. The barge will not
be subjected to any motion forces as it will be properly moored at Rohini yard and at Dahej, it will be
in beaching condition.
2. REFERENCES
2.1 CODES & SPECIFICATIONS
The temporary lifting arrangement & support system is checked in accordance with the following codes &
standards.
a) IS 800:2007 – “General Construction in Steel – Code of Practice-Third revision”.
b) IS 2062 – “Hot rolled medium and high tensile structural steel – Specification (7th revision)”
3. MATERIAL SPECIFICATION
The structural arrangement for lifting arrangement is made with grade IS 2062 or equivalent IS 800-2007.
And other steel materials are with steel grade of E350 or equivalent.
4. STRUCTURAL COMPONENT
5. LOAD CONSIDERATION
5.1 Dead Load(DL):
Dead load considered as the self-weight of Megaload system.
= 11.089 m2
= 7.91 m2
= 7.91/11.089 = 0.713
VZ = 20 m/s
Pz = 0.6xVz2
= 0.240
CF = 1.6
= 1.6x0.240x0.457
= 0.175 (KN/m)
6. LOAD COMBINATION
Load combination will be for strength criteria and serviceability criteria, for checking the deflection of the
structural component and latter for checking the strength capacity of the structural component. The load
factor for each criteria is given below
1.00 x DL
