IBM Santa Teresa Campus, Baily Road, San Jose, CA
architect: MBT Architecure
year: 1975
size: 600,000 sf
brief: IBM`s campus was conceived through two
central themes, demonstrate IBM`s logical
systems through a hyper-rational form and
enhance employee comfort by maximizing
outside views and providing ample open
space. The eight cruciform buildings maintain
horizontal continuity via sky bridges and a
completely connected first floor below the
outdoor terraces.

Oracle, 500 Oracle Parkway, Redwood City, CA
architect: Gensler and Associates
year: 1990
size: 1.2 million sf
brief: Oracle`s headquarters is an example of
flexible transformation. The project was
initially planned speculatively, with multiple
companies occupying various amounts of
space. Oracle, seeking to consolidate its
employees and brand a cohesive identity,
adapted its parameters to fit within the
existing framework of the project. A rare case
of a vertical campus, the five buildings range
from eight to sixteen stories.

Apple Inc., 1 Infinite Loop, Cupertino, CA
architect: HOK
year: 1993
size: 846,000 sf
brief: As the street name suggests, Apple`s campus
aims to invoke infinite possibilities through
a circular, interconnected plan. Each building
interior has different floor plates, planning
modules, layouts, and color schemes to suit
various Apple departments. The "commons"
building houses a conference facility,
auditorium, library, cafe, kitchen, and indoor-
outdoor dining.

architect: STUDIOS Architecure
year: 1997
size: 500,000 sf
brief: Originally designed for SGI (graphics company),
the campus was organized to provide interior
courtyards and inter-building connectivity
via "sky bridges". Amenities include dining
