Horizontal lines are straight lines that run straight
across — they don’t have any slope at all:

Perpendicular Lines
A pair of lines are perpendicular to each other if they meet or cross at a right angle.

We can show perpendicular lines by using the right angle symbol.

FACT: If a horizontal and a vertical line cross, they will always be perpendicular!

cgpplus.co.uk
Two lines are parallel if they always remain the same distance apart.
You can extend parallel lines by any amount, but they will never cross.

We can show parallel lines by drawing arrows going the same direction.

FACT: A pair of horizontal lines will always be parallel. The same is true for a pair of vertical lines!
