to an underwater volcanic eruption from
40 million years ago.

began on April 9, 2021. It was preceded by
volcanic and seismic activity. Many homes
were damaged and civilians had to evecuate.

Soufrière Hills Volcano in Montserrat started erupting
in 1995-1997. Half of the population evacuted due to
earthquakes and ash falls. In June 1997, the eruption
escalated with pyroclastic flows that destroyed the
town of Plymouth and 19 people died.
