Around 35 years ago, a carman for Conrail slipped off the last stair of a locomotive and broke his back. This accident occurred
because he was holding an old-fashioned blue flag lantern in his right hand and could not achieve a safe 3-point contact on the
locomotive. It became clear that this lantern was a pressing safety issue, so the railroad called us. This led Railhead Corporation
to develop and patent the M90 blue light, which has a strong magnetic base that attaches to the locomotive, leaving workers with
two free hands rather than one.

Some railroads have decided to take things a step further

with the locomotive staff flags. Your rail yard can eliminate
countless trips up and down locomotive stairs, reducing
the risk of injury, especially when workers are faced with
inclement weather.

We carry Locomotive Staff Flags for different locations and

environments including windy conditions and uneven ballast.
Other Flag Staffs that are great for shops, and yet other’s that
