Video: “Friends – Thanksgiving Flashbacks”

 Do you agree with the saying above?

 Watch an episode from the sitcom “Friends” in which the characters are talking about
some past “Thanksgiving incidents” and:

a. Take notes about the events mentioned (use the back side of this paper).

b. Try to guess the meaning of the following words / expressions:

DOA – dead on arrival


thong – a piece of underwear or the bottom part of a bikini with a very
narrow part at the back which does not cover the bottom (fio dental)
bumming out – to wander (“vadiando”)
houseboy – a boy that works in the house
creep – to move slowly, quietly and carefully, usually in order to avoid being
noticed; to humliate
beg – to ask for something urgently and without pride because you want it
very much (“implorar”)
knapsack – backpack
no room in the fridge – no space in the fridge
mole cluster – “culote”
dude – guy
drool over – “babar por alguém”
turn you on – to make someone sexually excited
dab – to touch (something) lightly and quickly, usually repeatedly
wicker – “vime”

freak out – to get crazy

c. Which of the events did you find the funniest? Why?

d. Have you ever been to similar situations? If so, tell your teacher about them. If
not, how would you feel in such situations?
