WIC BOARD OF DIRECTORS ELECT FIRST FEMALE PRESIDENT
ORLANDO, Fla. – A change has taken place at its quarterly meeting this morning. The
board of directors of Winston Investment Corporation elected Michele M. Bennet president of
the corporation.
She replaces Jack Morris, 60, who will continue as chairman and chief executive officer.
Morris will oversee the fixed-income management group and product development group. The
firm’s other groups, as well as operations, marketing and legal departments will report to Bennet.
“So far as I’m concerned, Morris is still the head man at WIC. I expect that the board will see
how I perform under new management and I’m certainly in agreement that I should be judged on
my performance.” said Bennet.
Bennet, 40, is the first female to be president at WIC. She is a graduate of Temple
University, where she majored in finance. Bennet received her Master of Business
Administration from Rutgers University in New Jersey. She joined the Golden Bank as
management trainee after graduating from Rutgers. After three years, she joined Johnson and
Johnson’s financial management department. She then joined WIC eight years ago as vice
president of its most successful equity fund. Two years ago, she was promoted to the executive
vice president of the corporation. Her new annual base salary will be $400,000. “Bennet and I
will continue to work as a team in supervising all aspects of the operations. She has proven
herself many times over in the past and will continue to do so in the future.” said Morris.
“I have enjoyed helping the organization reach its goals in the past eight years. I look forward to
the opportunity to continue to add vision and leadership in the years to come.” Said Bennet.
WIC is a mutual fund corporation with 65 separate fund portfolios, $55 billion in net
assets, and three million stakeholders. The group itself is made up of 40 investment companies
and is one of the nation’s largest firms in the mutual fund business.
