XStudent-Led: Students are given voice and choice in the activities. They may select the topic of
learning and/or determine the tool they will use to meet the learning goal. The teacher facilitates
the learning as the students direct their own learning processes.

Problem-based and/or Publishable: Students are solving problems and completing projects to
demonstrate their learning. Additionally, the projects can be shared outside of the classroom.
(Note: This objective could be reached by displaying the project on the school’s morning
newscast, posting the project to the classroom blog, presenting it to another class, or publishing
it via an outside source.)
Lesson idea implementation:

The students will use Spotify for Podcasters to create an audio message that recap the character and
character’s action in their individually chosen Dr. Suess book. This activity will be introduced through
a teacher led audio message instructions that help lead students to understand the software and
activity. The students will utilize the technology by creating a 30 second to one minute audio of
their reading recap. Each student will share their story and the character recap to share with their
classmates. This lesson can be used daily or weekly to continue practicing the focus and importance
of the story’s character and their actions. Students will receive feedback by their peers on their
specific Dr. Suess book.
Managing student learning:

This tool will shift behaviors from passive to active social learners by allowing a space for the
students to use their voice. Students have the opportunity to introduce their chosen book giving
them a purpose in others learning. As well, students will give feedback to classmate’s audio message
and that will allow social interaction within the technology classroom. Student will have 10-minute
timers to create a short script of their audio message and to record then upload to the classroom
page.
Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Reflection: Be sure to mention one specific UDL principle you
are focused on in this lesson – Multiple Means of Engagement, Multiple Means of Representation,
or Multiple Means of Action & Expression.

This tool enhances the learning of all students because the student has a choice of what to say on
the audio message according to their reading. Furthermore, through the UDL principle of Multiple
Means of Representation, the students get to hear different opinion and perspectives from
classmates that can enrich their comprehension on the characters within the text.
Reflection:

This lesson will be a consist outlet for students to display their learning and comprehension of a
novel or text through the school year. It will impact the student’s learning by practicing the skill of
looking at the characters and the character’s action with a story. I look forward to hearing the
feedback of students with their classmates and they discuss the different opinions and perspectives
of the characters.
