METHOD STATEMENT
1. OBJECTIVE
2. SCOPE
This Methodology Statement will cover procedure for soil erosion to control or trap sediments
before it is carried off site.
Develop and execute project plans, including scope, schedule, and budget.
Track and manage project risks, and develop strategies to mitigate them.
Prepare and present project status reports to senior management and clients.
Liaise with clients to ensure project goals align with their expectations.
3.2. PROJECT-IN-CHARGE
Oversee and manage the overall construction project from start to finish.
Develop and execute project plans, including scope, schedule, and budget.
3
METHOD STATEMENT
Make critical decisions on changes, modifications, and deviations from the plan.
Assist the Project Manager in the overall site coordination and management
Ensure that the project is adhering to the budget and resources allocated.
4
METHOD STATEMENT
Perform inspections and tests on all procedures, oversee all testing methods, and
maintain high-quality standards for all processes
Review the quality of all materials at the site and ensure compliance with all
project specifications
3.6. PURCHASER
Source and procure materials, equipment, and services required for the project.
Work closely with the finance team to manage budget and expenses.
5
METHOD STATEMENT
Use surveying equipment, such as total stations and GPS, to gather data.
Identify sensitive areas and habitats that may be impacted by erosion and
sedimentation from slope instability.
Regularly inspect construction sites and areas where slope protection measures
are implemented to assess compliance with erosion control plans and best
management practices.
Monitor sediment runoff, erosion, and water quality parameters to detect any signs
of pollution or environmental degradation.
3.10. WAREHOUSEMAN
6
METHOD STATEMENT
3.11. TIMEKEEPER
Record and track daily attendance and working hours of project personnel.
Sorting, storing, and retrieving electronic and hard copies of project documents
4. SITE ASSESSMENT
Investigate the actual site condition and identify where the occurrence of soil
erosion is imminent.
For areas which are relatively flat, laying of gravel or a combination of crushed
stone and soil to produce base course will be sufficient enough to control or
minimize erosion. However, in some cases where other factors needs
consideration, such as slope, location and the likes, slope protection such as
gabion might be a better solution.
7
METHOD STATEMENT
Shop Drawings (SD) shall be submitted for review and approval by the Client or its
representative before commencing work.
4.3. EQUIPMENT
Pay Loader
Road grader
Dump truck
Roller compactor
Concrete V-Drain
6. PREVENTION MEASURES
Plough along the contour lines of the construction area rather than up and down
slopes to reduce water runoff and soil erosion.
Manage water runoff by directing excess water away from the working area and
into existing drainage systems, diversions, and swales.
Install concrete v-drain to intercept and slow down the flow of water, preventing it
from carrying away soil particles.
7. INSTALLATION
Clear the area of any debris, vegetation, or loose materials that may interfere with
the construction process.
Strip the topsoil to subsoil level with minimum depth of 300mm or as instructed by
the Engineer.
8
METHOD STATEMENT
Dispose and Stockpile the topsoil separately from subsoil and other excavated
material for subsequent re-use in covering the required areas.
Lay and compact the gravel using roller compactor sufficient to receive traffic.
Excavate trenches along the contour of the slope according to the designed layout
for the V-Drains.
Install the V-Drain securely within the trenches, ensuring proper alignment.
Backfill the trenches with suitable aggregate material to provide structural support
and facilitate proper drainage.
7.3. DOCUMENTATION
The Contractor shall maintain detailed records of all tests, inspections, and
material certifications. These records shall be made available for review by the
Engineer and any relevant authorities as required.
8. MAINTENANCE
9
METHOD STATEMENT
9. SAFETY MEASURES
Provide First Aid Facility on working site in case of minor injury treatment.
Ensure safe access to the Right Of Way (ROW) and maintain the permanent and
temporary access roads in good condition during construction.
Cover and secure all materials debris prior to its movement outside the site.
10. APPROVAL
The Client or its representative should conduct a final review and sign-off to
officially approve the completion of work.
All faulty and rejected works will be removed, replaced or otherwise corrected by
the Contractors, as directed by the Client or its representative, and at the sole cost
of Contractor.
