Tips for Use:
Sort Activity:

1. Students will need to cut and

glue the prisms, determine
their dimensions, and then
calculate the volume.
2. The Sort requires students to
know both volume formulas:
Length x Width x Height and
Area of the Base x Height.

Volume of a Prism:

1. This is a higher level activity

that requires students to use a
variety of strategies. In the
first column, they have to
count or calculate the number
of cubes in the prism. In the
second column, they have to
count or calculate how many
more cubes are needed to fill
the prism.
2. Allow students to struggle
through this! It will build
understanding.
Sort it Out!
