As educators, we understand the importance of homework in reinforcing learning and preparing

students for success. However, we also know that creating assignments that are engaging,
meaningful, and aligned with curriculum can be a daunting task. That's why we have created the
Teacher Toolkit Homework Menu - a resource designed to make homework planning easier and more
efficient for teachers.

The Challenge of Creating Homework Assignments

Writing homework assignments can be a challenging and time-consuming process. Teachers are often
faced with the task of creating multiple assignments for different subjects and grade levels, while
also ensuring that the assignments are relevant and beneficial for their students. This can be
overwhelming, especially when juggling other responsibilities such as lesson planning and grading.

Furthermore, teachers must also consider the varying abilities and learning styles of their students
when creating homework assignments. This adds an extra layer of complexity to the task, as teachers
must find a balance between challenging their students and providing support for those who may
need it.

The Solution: The Teacher Toolkit Homework Menu

The Teacher Toolkit Homework Menu offers a solution to these challenges. Our team of experienced
educators has carefully curated a menu of homework assignments that cover a wide range of
subjects and grade levels. These assignments are designed to be engaging, relevant, and aligned with
curriculum standards.

Our menu includes a variety of options such as reading comprehension activities, math problems,
writing prompts, and project-based assignments. These options allow teachers to choose assignments
that cater to the individual needs and abilities of their students.

I use homework bookmarks for 99% of my kids and a daily homework tracker for the kiddos who
need a bit more daily accountability. I need your help—do you have a parent letter that introduces
and explains this process of completing homework. When I taught 2nd grade we used a more simple
homework and it worked well, especially at the beginning of the year. For reading, we do some
independent reading and some read aloud (by parents) tasks, then add a comprehension focus to
each from our curriculum for the previous month so that students have more opportunities to put them
into practice. I have been teaching for many years, but new to first, so any help is appreciated. Look,
I even did the hard part for ya.making them!;). I talk with my students throughout the year about
choosing just right homework assignments and train the parents to do the same. Even if I have
something that doesn’t necessarily fit with a given option, I’ll let students know they can use it as a
homework option (and let the parents know too) and write in the assignment they did instead of a
number. When I grow up, I have so much things to do, but only not to study. I believe that in
kindergarten and first grade homework should consist of brief tasks connected to classroom learning.
I love the option of a menu since so many families are busy. There are a number of ways to
implement this in your class, each of which is explained thoroughly in the instructions. Count to 20.
It is an easy to follow format which makes it great for students to complete with parents,
grandparents or even siblings. For the most part parents have been very supportive of this type of
homework and loved that it gave their child more freedom and less busy work. I also included a
monthly homework option, if that is something that would work better for you. Train parents the
same way you do students about choosing just right homework assignments (finish in 2 minutes vs.
Kids are encouraged to build relationships, think critically, serve others, try new things, and explore
the arts (see the preview to see specific examples). I will be placing these in a homework folder along
with a notebook. Since I can’t necessarily control which assignments students pick as this is
HOMEwork, I choose my battles. I don’t think this is the best way to assign homework as it takes
responsibility away from the student, but I don’t believe homework is important enough to cause
rifts between teachers and parents. We are all working together for the students success. I was riding

anything else you do in your classroom, some parents are 100% on board and think homework

choose the do your own thing option of writing words 4 times daily and skip the fun and silly ways
to practice. Included is a Monthly Menu and then 4 pages of recording sheets that go along with the

recent homework format Kindergarten Homework Menus and First Grade Homework Menus, the
critiques I've received about homework have been replaced by more engaged parent discourse about
things they see their child struggling with and what else they can do at home to support their little
person, which was an unexpected and pleasant surprise. I need your help—do you have a parent
