ABSTRACT

The project focuses on providing a platform to test the student’s knowledge to be placed in a
company. The user, student can learn, practice and prepare for the placement examinations through
this website. The objective of this PrepBright is to evaluate the student’s performance through
a fully automated system, which gives fast and accurate results.
We are using google forms for writing placement related activities which has a chance of
malpractice, referring various websites to learn content, relying on social media for job
notifications. As there is no Particular platform PrepBright can be implemented including all
these functionalities at one place. One section contains the practice tests where students can
test their knowledge in the given material by practicing and another section is to write the
placement examinations which are conducted by our department which has certain time limit.
Admin has access to the database where all the credentials of students and faculty
stored securely. The questionnaire is uploaded in the website with a specific link and certain
expiration time. Students have to access the link to write the test before the link expires. As
each question have time limit user cannot skip the question. After submitting the test, results will
be stored and admin can release the results as ranks and will give feedback about their
performance.
For difficult concepts or any queries , students can interact with the chatbot . Admin will
have the details of students who are placed and yet to be placed. Our website will contain a
section regarding placement drives such as applying links for drives, number of rounds , exam
pattern, exam syllabus for respective companies.

CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION

PrepBright is a platform in which student can learn from the content and can test their
knowledge by practice tests and can estimate their performance based on the practice test.

The main objective of PrepBright is to provide all the features that a student
expect from a website i,e. a chatbot for friendly interaction, material for learning, practice
tests. And also students can check for job notifications for both Multi National Companies
and Startups and can apply for the respective job notifications. For college purpose, admin
can conduct exams related to placements through a fully automated proctored system which
gives fast and accurate results. Also admin can have the student details like Name , Class ,
Section and their job Status.

Problem Statement:

The students of IIIT Srikakulam do not have all the required resources available at one
platform. So, we, the students rely on the internet and refers many websites, applications etc.
It is a difficult task to collect all the required resources and also time consuming process. To
test their knowledge, one has to use websites from the internet for practicing.
On the other hand, our college department is using google forms for conducting
placement related exams which is difficult to analyze the results, also results in malpractice.
So, in order to make it easy for all the students, our team has chosen to develop a web
application by providing all the necessary features for placement related activities. It also
benefits the department as admin can conduct exams in the respective platform.

Purpose:

Digitalization plays an important role in today’s day to day life. Everything will be done in
fraction of seconds through a powerful devices called “Laptop or Mobile”. Main purpose of
our website is to provide all the necessary requirements for a student , who is dreaming to
secure a job. This website can be used to Prepare , Practice and Perform as it contains
content, Practice tests and a platform to conduct exams. This complete process will be done
in online mode with the help of internet.

1
CHAPTER 2
EXISTING SYSTEM

We, the students of IIIT Srikakulam, refers many websites for the preparation for placement
exams. We rely on social media like Telegram , LinkedIn , Internshala , Indeed , Naukri ,
GlassDoor , Gmail for job updates. The Existing system of conducting placement test process
is through Google Forms. In Existing system the test conductor will prepare questions and
paste them in the google forms and the link will be provided to the students. By entering their
details ,Students will access the test and answer the questions(MCQ) and submit them. After
the submission , the score will be stored in the test conductors system. After that , the test
conductor have to analyze the score for giving rank. And then they have to display the results
in another platform. Also, here there is a chance for malpractice.

DRAW BACKS OF EXISTING SYSTEM:

In the existing system, there is a chance of doing Malpractice, that is writing the exam in one
tab and searching the answers in another tab. Displaying ranks is not possible through google
forms. It will take lot of effort to analyze the results for giving rank based on the score and it
is time consuming process.
In the existing system , we need to refer different websites to get the data we
wanted and we rely on social media like Telegram , LinkedIn , Internshala , Indeed , Naukri ,
GlassDoor , Gmail for job updates which makes it difficult.

WAYS TO OVER COME DRAWBACKS IN EXISTING SYSTEM:

In the proposed system, there is a no chance of doing Malpractice, that is the timer will start
once you click on the start button. It will store the record of each test and the results of every
student in the college database. Hence it is easy to display the ranks. As we are storing the
details of all the students and their marks, it takes less time and less effort to analyze ranks of
the students. Admin can conduct exams related to placements through a fully automated
proctored system which gives fast and accurate results.

2
CHAPTER 3
PROPOSED SYSTEM

The main objective of PrepBright is that it helps the students of our educational institution in
preparation for the placements. This web application provides important content such as
aptitude, reasoning, verbal, Pseudo code and required tests. It also provides the information
regarding placement drives, departmental activities for placements.

It reduces the time consumption and workload that exist in the current system of placement
test. It also helps in storing the record of each test and the results of every student in the
college database. This makes the searching of the records easier than the existing system.

CONTENT STRUCTURE FOR PREPBRIGHT:

3
CHAPTER 4
FEASIBILITY STUDY

3.1 TECHNICAL FEASIBILITY

The technical feasibility in the proposed system deals with the technology used in the
system. It deals with the hardware and software used in the system whether they are of the
latest technology or not. It happens that after a system is prepared a new technology arises
and the user wants the system based on that technology. This system uses windows platform,
HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, Bootstrap for front end technology and PHP, MYSQL for backend
technology. Thus, the PrepBright is technically feasible.

3.2 ECONOMICAL FEASIBILITY

This study is carried out to check the economic impact that the system will have on
the organization. The amount of funds that the company can pour into the research and
development of the system is limited. The expenditures must be justified. Thus, the
developed system as well within the budget and this was achieved because most of the
technologies used are freely available and open source technologies. Thus, the PrepBright is
economically feasible.

3.3 OPERATIONAL FEASIBILITY

The project has been developed in such a way that it becomes very easy even for a
person with little computer knowledge to operate it. This software is very user friendly and
does not require any technical person to operate it. The only thing that is needed to open and
write the tests is proper internet connection. Thus, the PrepBright is even operationally
feasible.

UML DIAGRAMS
USE CASE DIAGRAM:

32
A use case diagram in the Unified Modeling Language (UML) is a type of behavioral
diagram defined by and created from a Use-case analysis. Its purpose is to present a graphical
overview of the functionality provided by the system in terms of actors, their goals
(represented as use cases). The main purpose of, Use Case diagram is to show what system
functions are performed for which actor. Roles of the actors in the system can be depicted.

Sequence Diagram :

33
A sequence diagram in Unified Modeling Language (UML) is a kind of interaction
diagram that shows how processes operate with one another and in what order. It is a
construct of a message sequence chart, sequence diagrams are sometimes called event
diagrams, event scenarios, and timing diagrams.

CHAPTER 7
REQUIREMENTS

FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Software Requirements:

A major element in building a system is the section of compatible software since the software
in the market is expected in geometric progression. Selected software should be acceptable by
the firm and one user as well as it should be feasible for the system.
This document gives a detailed description of the software requirement
specification. The study of requirement specification is focused especially on the functioning
of the system. It allows the developer or analyst to understand the system, function to be
carried out, the performance level to be obtained and corresponding interfaces to be
established.
Front end : HTML5, CSS, JAVA SCRIPT , BOOTSTRAP
Back end : DJANGO, SQLITE
Operating system : Windows 10

FRONT END:

HTML5: HTML5 is a Hypertext Markup Language used for structuring and presenting
content on the World Wide Web. The technology market being saturated with smart devices
with different screen sizes and resolutions, HTML5 allows users to have a consistent web
experience across multiple devices.

CSS: CSS is used for defining the styles for web pages. It describes the look and formatting
of a document which is written in a markup language. It provides an additional feature to
HTML. It is generally used with HTML to change the style of web pages and user interfaces.

JAVA SCRIPT: JavaScript is a text-based programming language used both on the client-
side and server-side that allows you to make web pages interactive. Where HTML and CSS
are languages that give structure and style to web pages, JavaScript gives web pages
interactive elements that engage a user.

35
BOOTSTRAP: Bootstrap is a large collection of predefined reusable code snippets written
in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript . It is used to give responsive to the website.

BACK END:

DJANGO: Django is a high-level Python web framework that enables rapid development of
secure and maintainable websites. Built by experienced developers, Django takes care of
much of the hassle of web development, so you can focus on writing your app without
needing to reinvent the wheel.

SQLITE: SQLite can be used to create a database, define tables, insert and change rows, run
queries and manage an SQLite database file. It also serves as an example for writing
applications that use the SQLite library. SQLite uses automated regression testing prior to
each release.

Hardware Requirements :

The section of hardware configuration is an important task related to the software

development; insufficient random-access memory may adversely affect the speed and
efficiency of the entire system. The process should be powerful enough to handle the entire
operation. The hard disk should have sufficient capacity to store the file and application.

Processor : Intel core i5

Processor speed : 1.9 GHZ x86 orx64 bit minimum
RAM : 2-GB minimum 4-GB or more recommended
Hard disk : 256 GB
Display : SVGA with resolution of 1024x767

NON FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Non-functional requirements are requirements which specify criteria that can be used to judge
the operation of a system, rather than specific behaviors. This should be contrasted with
functional requirements that specify specific behavior or functions.

Typical non-functional requirements are reliability, scalability, and cost.

36
Reliability: Our Website is failure free. Every operation in our Website will work properly
with high security measures. If any exceptions occur during the execution of the website it
will be managed by the admin with out any failure.

Scalability: Every needed module is included in the Website. Even though Our system has
been developed in such a way that new modules and functionalities can be added, there by
facilitating system evolution.

CHAPTER 8
Benefits of Website

 We can get the required information related to aptitude, reasoning, verbal ability at any
time from our website.
 We can take practice test to check the progress of our understanding.
 We can get job notifications for both Multi National Companies and Startups.
 We have to use user credentials to login in order to write the placement examination
which is conducted by our CSE department.

 Admin can conduct exams related to placements through a fully automated proctored
system which gives fast and accurate results.

 We can get exact and accurate results without any error.

Limitations of Website

 We have to use user credentials to login in order to write the placement examination
which is conducted by our CSE department.
 We can’t avail the services of this website if the target device has no internet.
 The website can be accessed by five hundred students only at a time.
 This website is only available on Smart Phones and Laptops.

CHAPTER 9

CONCLUSION

To conclude the description about the project developed using HTML5, CSS,
JAVASCRIPT, BOOTSTRAP, DJANGO and SQLITE database is based on the requirement
specification of the user and the analysis of the existing system, with flexibility for future
enhancement. PREPBRIGHT will be a great relief to placement team and really helpful for
students for getting better job opportunities and we can extend this to all the departments to
provide faster access to data by making it much more secure, easy addition, updation,
deletion of data and solves the problems which occur when carried manually. Identifying the
problems in an existing system helps in designing computerized software that will be
compatible with an existing system with a more user friendly and GUI oriented interface

Hence by using our system student can learn, practice the concepts regarding
placements and for department activities any student can take the exam at any place in the
given time slot. Student profile contains their details, marks of placement activities , job
status. It is easy to analyze the rank and display the results of the students and giving
feedback about their performance. So , the students will be benefited by using all these
required functionalities at one place which will help them to get placed.
