Song Eight

Song Eight (八下り目 Ya Kudari-me) is one of the Twelve Songs of the Mikagura-uta. It is said to have been composed by Oyasama Mikagura-uta
between the second and eighth lunar months of 1867. There was a time when it was referred as "Chapter Eight" in English.

ひろいせかいやくにな
First, In this wide world and its many countries; hitotsu hiroi sekai ya kuni naka ni 一ツ

Fifth, However long you may hesitate, itsutsu itsumade miawase itaru tomo 五ツ

Ponder over it from your innermost heart! mune no uchi yori shian seyo

Seventh, When your mind becomes somewhat purified, nanatsu nanika kokoro ga sunda nara 七ツ

はやくふしんにとり
Begin the construction at once! hayaku fushin ni tori kakare

やまのなかへといりこ
Eighth, Having entered into the mountains, yattsu yama no naka eto irikonde 八ツ

Ninth, kokonotsu kono ki kirō ka ano ishi to 九ツ
