Human Resource Manager Industrial & Employee Relations


Job Purpose:
The Human Resource Manager , Industrial and Employee Relations is responsible for developing, building and maintaining strong relationships with designated operating partners and employees to effect amicable industrial relations through the development and implementation of policies and procedures and adherence
to Collective Agreements, labour laws and practices.

Qualification:
B.Sc. in Management Studies, Behavioural Sciences or Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resource Management and courses in Industrial Relations, Organisational Development and business communications. Extensive Training in Industrial Relations, Labour Law, Labour Management or any related field of study is required. Advanced certification in Alternative Dispute Resolution and mediation skills are essential. Five (5) years experience in Human Resource function. Proficient in the use of Human Resources Information Systems

Key Responsibilities:
Serve as a link between management and employees, by handling employee inquiries, interpreting and administering HR related problems and directing requests within the HR Department. Advise managers on organisational policy matters related to Industrial Relations, Employee Relations, and other HR related matters. Monitor employee grievances and make interventions to ensure that proper Industrial Relations practices are adopted and employed across the organisation. Manage the Collective Bargaining process, for all Negotiations and Collective Agreements. Administer disciplinary hearings. Work with HR team to administer an Employee Satisfaction survey on an annual basis, to monitor HR Service Delivery levels and make adjustments to improve service levels.

Core Competencies:
Knowledge of the principles and procedures for Industrial & Employee Relations, regional labour laws and practices. The individual must be functional in strategic HR Planning, Leadership, production methods and coordination of people and resources. Manage ones own time and the time of others. Knowledge of principles and practices for providing customer service and HR assessment, meeting quality standards for services and evaluation of customer satisfaction. Knowledge of local and regional labour laws and LIATs collective agreements. The individual must possess good interpersonal skills and a cooperative attitude. Individual must be honest and ethical in his/her practices. Individual must be able to accept criticism and deal calmly and effectively in high-stress situations; maintain composure and avoid explosive situations.
