FROM MILK TO MEAT
BUILDING A NEW LIFE
On a firm foundation
In the past two lessons, we
talked about your newness and
that of the things given to you.
You are now, in this lesson,
brought to the most important
aspect of Christian living, building
your new life. It is often said that it
does not matter how you start,
but what is important is how you
finish. When it comes to building
that is not the case and it is
important how you start. For the
building to survive the storms of
life and to last for a long time, the
foundations must be good. You
start with the end in mind.
The good news is that for
Christian living the foundation is
already laid, in other words the
Master-builder gives us the
foundation and all that we need
to do is to build well upon this
foundation. Look at our main
verse for today, it gives us an
exciting information.
The big mistake that many
people do when they start living
a Christian life is that they do not
build upon this foundation. To
build is not an easy thing and
people tend to shy away from it or
do a shoddy job. Jesus spoke
about the wisdom of building
something that will last. He said
you must dig deep on the rock to
lay a foundation and avoid laying
a foundation on sand. Now many
people build next to the rock, but

What is meant by building next
to the rock? It means you just keep
a religion without allowing the
word of God to transform your
thinking. People try to walk with
God but basing everything on
their human understanding or on

In the same way that
nursing infants cry for milk,
you must intensely crave
the pure spiritual milk of
God’s Word. For this “milk”
will cause you to grow into
maturity, fully nourished
and strong for life.

the traditions of man. They are for
God when it is easy, but as soon as
difficult and uncomfortable tasks
show up, they are not willing. This
selective walk with God will not
work. You need to find out how
God works, his ways are different
to those of man, and He thinks
much better than a person does.

verses on the previous page.
Others, even if they build on
the right foundation, but they use
materials of poor quality like their
feelings or other physical
evidence. With these two you will
not go that far. Our feelings do not
always reflect the truth and they
are ever changing. The physical
evidence also changes. Building
upon the firm foundation means
trusting what God says no matter
how you feel or what it is that you
see. This is faith material.
Jesus said building upon the
rock is coming (to church or to

Him), hearing (a word based
sermon preached), and then do
(what the sermon was telling you
to do). If you do not do, you are
building on sand, and when the
troubles of life come, they will find
you weak and will overthrow you.
So it important that from now
on, you must everyday read at
least one verse from the Bible and
think carefully on what it means. If
you do not understand it, you can
ask other believers in the church.
Your way to grow is in the word of
God. For you to become a strong
matured believer you must come
to church regularly, listening
carefully to the sermons
preached, taking notes, and
going home and practicing what
you were taught. Even during the
week you must read the bible,
meditate about what you read,
and make changes in your life. It is
a good thing also to buy some
sermons on CDs, Christian books,
and downloading a bible to your
phone. When you hear these
again and again, they start to
transform you and you become a
better person.
You must want the word of
God by all means as indicated in
the last verse on the other verses
section. It is your way of growing.
Never be like the Christians who
build on the sand or next to the
rock and then one day come and
ask that somebody pray for their
growth. If you find yourself having
to ask someone to pray for your
growth, just know that there is
something you are not doing right.
That should not be a prayer
request, but an exercise.
Prayer for today
“LORD create in me a clean
heart so that I may hunger for your
word. Grant me the wisdom I need
so that I become a better me. I
receive your love in faith and in
the Name of Jesus Christ. Amen.”
