January 2024

Dear Ms. Gethers,

I trust this message finds you well. My name is Alana Jones, and I am a part of the Activities
Program and Student Council at Ripon High School. As a component of our curriculum, we
emphasize the development of essential interview skills and professionalism, covering areas such
as professional attire, resume writing, cover letters, and public speaking.

I have been tasked with securing a professional in the field of Musical Theatre for our upcoming
10th Annual Mock Interviews. I am seeking individuals willing to participate either via Zoom, at
their workplace, or at our main office building at RHS. If the high school option is preferred, the
event will take place on April 25th, 2024, with time slots available at 6:30 pm, 7:00 pm, or 7:30
pm due to limited office space. Should you choose Zoom or your site, we can be flexible with the
dates to accommodate your schedule.

Over this past weekend, I saw you perform in Little Shop of Horrors, and I was stunned. While
every performer was amazing, I left the theatre thinking about your performance. I immediately
went and followed your Instagram. Not to be creepy at all, but your talent is truly something else.
Next year, I am going to Cap 21 at Molloy University for musical theatre and would love to
interview you about your journey as a musical theatre performer. The questions are listed below.

1. At what moment did you know you wanted to perform?

2. How do you manage health insurance, or living in an apartment? Did you immediately
move to New York after college?
3. How is your mental health affected by the work you do?
4. What was your most difficult role physically and/ or vocally?
5. Would you recommend getting into the business?
6. How has the performing schedule affected seeing family members?
7. Any crazy theatre moments?
8. What has been your favorite show to perform, and why?
9. Who do you idolize, and how has that affected your performance?
10. I am currently in rehearsals to play Deloris in Sister Act, do you have any tips for her
character?
11. Anything else you want to say?
12. You have played iconic black female roles, do you feel the need to have a cut of
something in that genre in your book for casting? (For example, do you always keep a
cut of Easy as Life in your book when casting is looking for a new black female lead, I
hope that made sense)
13. Sure, some people go into musical theater without any experience, but what did you get
out of going to Plymouth BFA? Was it the connections? Curriculum? etc.

If you agree to participate, you will receive my digital portfolio link containing my resume and
cover letter, a set of interview questions, and other pertinent details for the event. During the
interview, your feedback is invaluable, and we have provided a grading rubric via Google Forms.
Verbal feedback immediately following the interview would be highly appreciated. Your
involvement represents a unique opportunity to positively impact my future, and I am genuinely
excited about this prospect.

To proceed, kindly share your best phone number and email, and I will provide you with all the
necessary information to maximize the efficiency of your time.

Your prompt response, as soon as your availability is known, would be sincerely appreciated to
ensure the smooth organization of this event.

Thank you for considering this invitation, and I am looking forward to the possibility of your
participation. Also if you would like to put a person to this email, my name is @lawnlynn on
Instagram. Again, thank you so much, and have a wonderful day!

Best regards,
- Alana Jones
