______From the play, I believe the theme predominantly showcased is "Overcoming life
setbacks and challenges." Throughout the play, the playwright illustrates characters
grappling with various obstacles and adversities, ultimately striving to overcome them
despite the odds. One significant example is seen in Act 2, Scene 3, where the
protagonist, Lyle, reflects on his struggles: "I've been knocked down so many times I
can't even count anymore. But I keep getting back up. That's what matters." This quote
encapsulates the resilience and determination exhibited by Lyle in the face of adversity.
Despite facing numerous setbacks and challenges, including existential doubts and
feelings of alienation, Lyle refuses to succumb to despair and instead chooses to
persevere. Additionally, the character of Sarah, in Act 1, Scene 2, provides another
example of overcoming setbacks as she asserts, "I won't let anything hold me back. Not
my past, not my circumstances." Sarah's determination to transcend her past and
societal limitations underscores the theme of resilience and the capacity to overcome
life's challenges. Through these examples and others scattered throughout the play,
the playwright imbues the theme of overcoming setbacks and challenges with
meaning, showcasing the indomitable human spirit in the face of
adversity.__________________________________________________________________________________
