Resource Materials
Infinifront Technique Packet
The Infinifront Technique Packet is a great resource to help understand the technical approach we use
with the mallet players at INFINITY Percussion. It is expected that you read and refer to this packet
throughout your audition preparation.

Skill Builders
These skill builders are some of many fundamental exercises/warmups that we use to isolate basic skills
needed to perform in the INFINIFRONT. Everyone, regardless of what ensemble you sign up for, should
be able to play and reference these skill builders.
*Note: These skill builders are made to isolate mallet skill sets. The rhythm section members should
follow the phrasing to support the written mallet parts. An example of how the phrasing works is written
out in Timmy Timer.*

AUDITION PROCESS
The day begins with all 3 ensembles meeting with the staff to talk through the day. Those who are
auditioning for INFINITY/INFINITY 2 will audition together outside in the courtyard. Those who initially
chose to sign up for the INFINITY 3 clinic/audition will move to another location on campus to start their
process.
● For the first block, those who are auditioning for our world class front ensembles will be
assessed through the “Audition Warmups” in a group setting. Your preparation and execution of
this portion of the audition will determine if you will continue to audition for INFINITY/INFINITY 2,
or be asked to audition for INFINITY 3 in the second block. Those who are asked to audition for
INFINITY 3 will be assessed using the skill builders.
● For the second block, those who are asked to continue to audition for our world class
ensembles will be assessed through the “Prepared pieces” in a group setting. Those who are
participating in the INFINITY 3 clinic/audition will continue to work through the skill builders.
*NOTE: all information from here on out only apply to those who chose to audition for our world class
ensembles INFINITY and INFINITY 2. All information for the INFINITY 3 auditions as well as our clinic
can be found in the “2024 INFINITY 3 Front & CLINIC Information Packet”*

We will also be assessing select rhythm section members through individual auditions. This will be an
opportunity for you to show off your individual abilities, talents as well as answer some interview
questions from the staff in a 5-10 minute individual audition.
*NOTE: mallet players will not be asked to prepare any materials outside of this packet, nor will they be
asked to play in an individual audition.*
● Drum set players will be asked to demonstrate different styles of grooves.
● Bass guitar and guitar players should prepare an individual piece of their choice as well as be
prepared to demonstrate different styles of grooves.
● Synth players should prepare an individual piece of their choice as well as be assessed on
knowledge/experience with Mainstage.
