Pratte, Andre, “God save the King. Because Canada needs the
monarchy”, National Post, Toronto, Canada, September 16, 2022

Andre Pratte, columnist of the National Post states that Canada needs
monarchy as it provides the stability in our country to run effectively.
Andre argues the that many people take stability for granted but in the
long run it is the most important thing which lays the foundation of our
constitution to run smoothly. There cannot be democracy, the rule of law,
prosperity, or social fairness without political stability. Also, he argues
the fact that abolishing monarchy from Canada would require a complete
redesign of our political system which as a result could lead to political
disfunction.

Subramanya, Rupa, “Abolish the monarchy in Canada”, National Post,

Don Mills, Ontario, March 10, 2021
Rupa Subramanya had pointed out the fact that it is true that many
Canadians want monarchy to be abolished from Canada but in reality, its
consequences are going to be devastating. As, Canadian government is
doing relatively well in Monarchy, its points out the question mark of
removing monarchy because change isn’t going to be easy as Canada
had been under monarchy for so long. There won't be any simple
transitions. Both houses of Parliament, along with each of the ten
provincial legislatures, must unanimously approve the King’s removal as
head of state. This could lead to instability which could ruin the entire
political system of Canada.

Bensadoun, Emerald, “Abolishing the monarchy in Canada would be

enormously difficult”, Global News, Canada, March 10, 2021
https://globalnews.ca/news/7688428/can-canada-abolish-monarchy/

Emerald Benayoun of the Global News investigates that in Canada, the

monarchy serves both ceremonial and constitutional purposes. He also
pointed out the fact that removing monarchy from Canada would be a
long process as it would take different provinces to agree on it.
Moreover, many indigenous people of Canada would also not agree for
the abolishment of monarchy considering their love and long back
history with the Crown. Emerald also states that our political system has
to go through a lot of approval and discussion to get all the provinces
agree on a particular discussion. He also expressed a pun that it would
be simpler to abolish the monarchy in the U.K. than it would be in
Canada because less approval is needed to make significant changes to
British government policy. Moreover, removal of Monarchy would force
Canada to have a Republic governance like U.S. which as a result not
always produce good governance.

The Editorial Board, “Canada’s monarchy is here to stay. Embrace it”, In

The Globe and Mail, Toronto, Ontario, May 26, 2022

According to the expert editors of the Globe and Mail, the monarchy
system in Canada is here to stay. They had pointed out the fact that the
Canadian system is way better as compared to other countries such as
the republic government in the U.S. The crown is the head of all states
and with its removal we want someone in replacement. Some people
would argue that we have governors and lieutenants but those were
neither elected democratically nor by an aristocratic lineage which as a
result would not meet the desired expectations. Such an exercise could
be worthwhile to try if the current system of monarchy was broken. That
is not the situation. As a result, the theoretical benefits are greatly
outweighed by the political and institutional concerns. There is no such
thing as a flawless government. However, when the benefits and
drawbacks of Canada inheriting a constitutional monarchy from the
British are considered, the institutional benefits far outweigh the symbolic
discomfort felt by some. They argue that it is considerably more
important to accept and respect Monarchy than to try to overthrow a
Crown that has on the whole, been beneficial to Canada.
