THE TOWER OF BABEL

At one time all the people of the world spoke the same language and used the same words.
As the people migrated to the east, they found a plain in the land of Babylonia and settled
there.

They began saying to each other, “Let’s make bricks and harden them with fire.” (In this
region bricks were used instead of stone, and tar was used for mortar.)

Then they said, “Come, let’s build a great city for ourselves with a tower that reaches into
the sky. This will make us famous and keep us from being scattered all over the world.

But the Lord came down to look at the city and the tower the people were building. “Look!”
he said. “The people are united, and they all speak the same language. After this, nothing
they set out to do will be impossible for them! Come, let’s go down and confuse the people
with different languages. Then they won’t be able to understand each other.”

In that way, the Lord scattered them all over the world, and they stopped building the city.
That is why the city is called Babel, because that is where the Lord confused people with
different languages.
FROM CREATION TO EASTER
When God created the world, everything was perfect. Adam and Eve loved each other, and they
loved God. There was no sickness or death. This was the way God wanted the world to be.

Gold told Adam and Eve, “You must not eat from the tree that gives knowledge about good and
evil.” But Eve took some of the fruit from the tree and ate it. Adam was there with her, so she gave
him some of the fruit, and he ate it. Because Adam and Eve sinned, the relationship between God
and people was broken. But God had a plan to restore that relationship.

To help us to know Him and to bring us His everlasting life and salvation, God sent His own Son,
Jesus, to earth

When Jesus began His life’s work, He went about everywhere doing good, helping others, and
teaching about God’s great love for us all. Large crowds came to Jesus. They brought many people
who were sick or handicapped, including those who could not see, walk, hear, or speak, and Jesus
healed them.

The Jewish leaders rejected Jesus and His message. They had Him arrested. After Jesus was
arrested, the Jewish leaders brought Jesus to Pilate, the Roman governor. Pilate agreed to have his
soldiers crucify Jesus.

Jesus didn't have to die on the cross, but He chose to die. — For you and me! All of us at times have
done wrong and our mistakes and sins separate us from God, Who is perfect. In order to bring us to
God, Jesus, the Son of God, took the punishment for our sins, that through His sacrifice, we can be
forgiven and saved.

Three days later, some women who had followed Jesus visited His tomb, but His body wasn't there!
An angel told them, “Jesus is not here. He has risen from the dead, just like he said he would!”

After His resurrection, Jesus appeared to His followers. He told them that He was going to return to
be with His heavenly Father, but that He would always be with them in spirit, living in their hearts
forever. He also gave His followers a wonderful promise, saying, “One day I will come again.”

You can receive Jesus into your heart and life by praying this prayer: Dear Jesus, I believe You are
the Son of God. I open the door and I invite You into my heart. Amen.
JACOB’S DREAM

Jacob left Beersheba and traveled toward Haran.

The sun had already set when he came to a good place to spend the night. He took a rock
there and laid his head on it to sleep.

Jacob had a dream. He dreamed there was a ladder that was on the ground and reached up
into heaven. He saw the angels of God going up and down the ladder. And then Jacob saw
the LORD standing by the ladder. He said, “I am with you, and I will protect you everywhere
you go.

The next morning Jacob got up very early. He took a stone and set it upright as a memorial
pillar. Then he poured olive oil over it.

Then Jacob made a promise. He said, “If God will be with me, and if he will protect me on
this trip, and if he gives me food to eat and clothes to wear, —if he does all these things—
then the LORD will be my God.”
