Lesson 1
(a) Jump into the water from the edge of the pool
backstroke
(g) Demonstrate rotation of tucked body, keeping face above surface of the water
(h) Dressed in shorts and T-shirt, tread water, partner throws flotation aid and instructs to kick to
edge
(k) Sculling race ; Divide group into teams of 4 and have a relay doing back float and sculling (hands
only)
Lesson 2
(a) Jump into the water at the deep end and touch the bottom of the pool
(b) Demonstrate a safety jump ; tread water for 2 mins. and then swim slowly for 3 mins. using three
survival strokes
(keeping arms below the surface) changing every minute to a different stroke
(c) Dressed in shorts and T-shirt ; demonstrate a surface dive, swim underwater, search for and
recover an object
(d) Swim continuously for 75 metres ; 50m above water stroke and 25m below water stroke
(f) Demonstrate horizontal arm sculling to rotate upright body around the vertical axis
Lesson 3
(c) Recover object from the bottom of the pool ; bring to edge holding on chest and moving on back
(f) Swim continuously for 100metres ; 50m above water arm recovery, 50m underwater arm recovery
(k) Water polo style relay where ball must be moved while swimming (Booms, precision)
