REACTION PAPER:
THE STORY OF STUFFS

In this fast-changing economy, lots of customers often ignore the complicated processes behind
creating the products they purchase. "The Story of Stuff" media offers a comprehensive look at the process
by which products, such as computers, phones, and watches, go from being natural raw materials to being
thrown away after usage.

I was made aware of the careless acts that corporations take in their pursuit of profit after seeing
the video. It does a good job of illustrating how someone's unquenchable desire for wealth may cause them
to become blind to the consequences of their actions. Although I did have some prior knowledge about the
inevitable consequences of producing items, it was nothing compared to what I now know. I was reminded
by the video of how little I normally appreciate the things I own. Large corporations prey on people's
vulnerabilities and lack of confidence, trapping them in a never-ending cycle of consumption.

My tendency to acquire items repeatedly without considering their cost has caused me to lose sight
of the environmental impact of their creation. Overuse of natural resources worsens environmental
problems. According to scientists, we have no more than 12 years to address this environmental calamity.
Thus, let's break the cycle, start with our own family and ourselves, and let's broadcast this shift throughout
the entire globe.
