DETAILEDLESSON PLAN IN MATHEMATICS 4

I. Objectives
A. Content Standard At the end of the lesson, the learners will be able to:
- Collect data on two variables using any source. M4SP-IVg-1.4
- Organizes data in tabular form and present them in a single
horizontal or vertical bar graph. M4SP-IVg-2.4
- Interpret data presented in different kinds of bar graphs
(Vertical / horizontal in a single bar graph). M4SP-IVg-3.4
B. Performance learners will be challenged to listen closely, read carefully, and
Standard remain focused throughout different activities and will learn the
importance of listening and following directions.
C. Learning The learners should be able to organize and form a graph base on
Competencies/Objectives the data gathered.

II. Subject Matter

Topic: Lesson 2: Organizing Data in Tabular Form/Graph Presentation
Reference: K-12 Standard
Learning Resources: Teacher’s Guide: pages 238-240
Learner’s Materials: pages 284-287
Learning Material: Charts, Laptop, Picture, TV and PPT and pictures of single
horizontal and vertical graphs

Strategy Used: Problem solving approach

III. Procedure
a. Preparatory Activities
a. Prayer
b. Checking of attendance
c. Setting of classroom Rules
b. Review
(the teacher will give a short review for the previous topic)
d. Motivation

Here’s the tally of the vehicles passing Atis Street.

f. Presentation/ Discussion

In our daily live, we deal with so much information that we need to be

organized to see the possible outcome of events. When we do this, we
deal the specific branch of Mathematics which is Statistics.

Statistics- is the collection, organization, presentation, interpretation and

analysis of data.

There are two important elements of Statistics:

1.Data
- they are a set of values used in statistics
2. Variables
-they are characteristics or properties of people, objects, places or thing in
statistics that are being represented by data.

Collection of Data
 Survey
 Interview
 Through observation

After the data has been collected, it is important to organize the data so
that the presentation, interpretation and analysis of data will be easy.

We can organize the date through tabular form.

 systematic arrangement of rows and columns
 label the rows and columns
 give the title that describe the date in the table.

Kinds of Bar Graph

VERTICAL BAR GRAPH is a type of graph in which we show data in the

form of rectangular bars.
 Single vertical bar graph
 Double vertical bar graph
HORIZONTAL BAR GRAPH draws width instead of height.
 Single horizontal bar graph
 Double horizontal bar graph
PARTS OF A BAR GRAPH
TITLE – tells who or what the graph is about. It is always at the top of the
graph.
CATEGORY– Tells specific type of data.
X-Axis title – It tells what data is being collected.
Y -Axis title- It tells what is being counted.
Scale – Tells the amount of data. It must start at zero.
Vertical Bar Graph (single bar)

Horizontal Bar Graph (single bar)

h. Generalization

(the teacher will ask the learners to summarize the topic)

j. Applications
l. Evaluation

n. Assignment

Conduct a survey among your classmates.

1. Make a tally of your classmate’s favorite ice cream flavor.
2. Organize the data in a table
3. Present the date in a bar graph.
4. Write a paragraph about your data.
